Die beiden Stuttgarter Linebacker Maleka Japhet Mbala und Luca Siebert verlängern ihre Verträge und gehen mit der Surge in die Saison 2025.
Seit 2021 ist das Urgestein Maleka Japhet Mbala als Linebacker für die Stuttgart Surge aktiv und hat alle Höhen und Tiefen der Franchise miterlebt. Dennoch richtet er den Blick nach vorne: „Die letzten zwei Jahre sind vergessen und gelöscht worden. Es gibt eine neue Chance, Geschichte für den Stuttgarter Football zu schreiben. 2025 ist unser Jahr und wir werden alles geben!“ Schon seit vielen Jahren übernimmt der 26-Jährige als Teamkapitän der Surge Verantwortung und gibt dort den Ton an. In seiner ELF-Karriere seit 2021 hat Mbala insgesamt 38 Spiele für die Surge absolviert. Zuvor war er von 2016 bis 2020 bei den Stuttgart Scorpions, wo er 2017 zum Defensive Player of the Year gewählt wurde.
„Es ist unser Jahr, vertrau uns und sei dabei, wir werden uns um den Rest kümmern.“ – Luca Siebert verspricht ein intensives Footballjahr 2025 für die Stadt unter’m Fernsehturm. Der laut eigener Aussage „bessere“ der beiden Siebert-Zwillinge geht in seine dritte Saison für die Surge, nachdem er 2023 im Tryout überzeugen konnte und danach von Jordan Neuman unter Vertrag genommen wurde. Der 24-jährige Linebacker war 27 Mal für die Surge im Einsatz und kommt dabei auf insgesamt 82 Total Tackles, 2,5 Sacks und 7,5 Tackles for Loss. Luca Siebert kam von den Leonberg Alligators, für die er von 2016 bis 2022 spielte.
Contract Extensions for Maleka Japhet Mbala and Luca Siebert
Stuttgart Surge linebackers Maleka Japhet Mbala and Luca Siebert have signed contract extensions to remain with the Surge through the 2025 season.
Veteran Maleka Japhet Mbala has been a Stuttgart Surge linebacker since 2021 and has seen the ups and downs of the franchise. Still, he is looking ahead: "The last two years have been forgotten and deleted. There is a new chance to write history for Stuttgart football. 2025 is our year and we will give it our all!” For many years, the 26-year-old has been the team captain of the Surge and sets the tone for the team. In his ELF career since 2021, Mbala has played a total of 38 games for the Surge. Prior to that, he played for the Stuttgart Scorpions from 2016 to 2020, where he was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
"It’s our year, trust and be there, we will take care of the rest." - Luca Siebert promises an intense year of American Football for the city under the TV tower in 2025. The self-proclaimed "better" of the Siebert twins is entering his third season with the Surge after impressing in a tryout in 2023 and then being signed by Jordan Neuman. The 24-year-old linebacker has appeared in 27 games for the Surge, recording 82 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. Luca Siebert comes from the Leonberg Alligators, where he played from 2016 to 2022.
