Stuttgart Surge reagiert auf die Knieverletzung von Randall Schroeder und holt Dante Vandeven als neuen Quarterback. Der 25-Jährige US-Amerikaner spielte zuletzt für die Derby Braves in England, soll den verletzten Schroeder ersetzen und Surge nach der aktuellen Niederlagenserie zum lange ersehnten ersten Saisonsieg führen.
Dante wuchs in Missouri auf und ging dort an die Jackson High School in der gleichnamigen Stadt. Schon früh war er sportlich aktiv und konnte besonders im American Football auf der Position des Quarterback auf sich aufmerksam machen. In seiner Zeit an der High School schaffte er es in zwei Saisons ins All-Conference Second Team und führte die Indians in zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Saisons bis ins Viertelfinale der State Championships. In seinen letzten beiden Jahren warf er über 4.400 Yards und 46 Touchdowns und konnte auch auf dem Boden mit über 1.800 Yards Rushing und 39 Touchdowns überzeugen.
Seine ersten beiden Saisons am College verbrachte er ab 2015 an der Southeast Missouri State University. Dort startete er zu Saisonbeginn als Quarterback Nummer drei, arbeitete sich jedoch schnell hoch und spielte die letzten acht Spiele als Starter. Die Entscheidung erwies sich als goldrichtig, denn er wurde am Saisonende zum Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year gewählt. Über das Jahr verteilt passte Dante für 1.568 Yards und 11 Touchdowns und lief für weitere 292 Yards und 6 Touchdowns. Nachdem er im nächsten Jahr nur in drei Spielen zum Einsatz kam, wechselte er an die Missouri Southern State University, wo er nicht nur Touchdowns warf, sondern auch fing. 2018 folgte dann der nächste Wechsel zur Central Methodist University. Auch hier brachte er gute Leistungen und führte mit 2835 Yards und 20 Touchdowns die Offensivstatistik seiner Conference an und wurde ins First-Team All-Conference gewählt.
2021 folgte der Sprung über den großen Teich und Dante lief für die Leicester Falcons in England auf. Im September widmete er sich wieder vorerst seiner Bildung, kombinierte das jedoch mit American Football bei den Derby Braves. Jetzt soll der 1,88 m große und 95 kg schwere Dual-Threat Quarterback das Ruder von Stuttgart Surge übernehmen und in der ELF für Furore sorgen.

In his last two seasons, he threw for over 4,400 yards and 46 touchdowns and also scored 1,800 yards rushing and 39 touchdowns on the ground.
He spent his first two college seasons from 2015 onwards at Southeast Missouri State. He started out as quarterback number three on the depth chart but quickly moved his way up and started the last 8 games. The decision proved to be right as he was voted Freshman of the Year in the Ohio Valley Conference, thanks to 1.568 yards passing and 11 touchdowns and 292 yards rushing and 6 further touchdowns on the ground. After only being used in three games the next year, he transferred to Missouri Southern State where he was also used as a receiver. In 2018, he made the switch to the Central Methodist University where he convinced once again and was leading the conference in total offense with 2,835 Yards and 20 Touchdowns, rightfully earning him First-Team All-Conference honors.
He made the leap across the pond in 2021 to play for the Leicester Falcons in England. In September, he decided to focus on his education but combined that with playing football for the Derby Braves. The 6’2” and 209 lbs dual-threat quarterback is now at the helm of the Surge offense and wants to make an impact in the ELF.
