Die beiden jungen Linebacker Omar Dittrich und Luis Leatherman kehren nach ihren Einsätzen für die Stuttgart Surge in der Saison 2024 zurück ins GAZi-Stadion auf der Waldau.
„Ich bin heiß darauf, wieder im GAZi zu sein! Wir haben eine große Saison vor uns, das wird ein Riesenspaß! Let’s go, Surge!“ – Omar Dittrich freut sich auf das erste Heimspiel zuhause und auf eine große Football-Party mit den Fans. Der Homegrown-Linebacker stand letzte Saison in 12 Spielen auf dem Platz und zeigte stets vollen Einsatz! Vor seinem Debüt in der European League of Football mit der Stuttgart Surge in der Saison 2024 war Dittrich seit 2022 bei den Montabaur Fighting Farmers im Einsatz, mit denen er 2023 in die GFL 2 aufgestiegen ist. Ausgebildet wurde der heute 25-Jährige in den Saisons 2014 bis 2021 bei den Wiesbaden Phantoms. In dieser Zeit erreichte er 2019 den Junior Bowl und wurde Leading Tackler und Defensive Rookie MVP 2021 der Phantoms.
Luis Leatherman stieß im Laufe der vergangenen Saison 2024 zur Stuttgart Surge und hat laut Head Coach Jordan Neuman aufgrund seines Talentes das Zeug, sich als potentieller „künftiger Superstar im europäischen Football“ durchzusetzen. Von Starallüren ist Leatherman jedoch weit entfernt und dankbar, Teil des Teams sein zu dürfen: „Ich möchte Teil eines großartigen Teams sein und auf höchstem Niveau spielen. Für Stuttgart Surge zu spielen ist eine spannende Herausforderung, und ich möchte dem Team zum Erfolg verhelfen.“ Der 22-jährige deutsche Linebacker absolvierte für die Surge bislang 6 Spiele und kam von den Reutlingen Eagles, für die er von 2020 bis 2023 spielte. Seine ersten sportlichen Schritte machte Leatherman bei den Tübingen Red Knights von 2017 bis 2018.

"I‘m fired up to be back in GAZi! We have a major season ahead of us, it’s going to be a blast! Let’s go Surge!" - Omar Dittrich is looking forward to the first home game and a big football party with the fans. The home-grown linebacker played in 12 games last season and always showed full commitment! Before making his debut in the European League of Football with the Stuttgart Surge in the 2024 season, Dittrich had been with the Montabaur Fighting Farmers since 2022, with whom he was promoted to the GFL 2 in 2023. The now 25-year-old trained with the Wiesbaden Phantoms from 2014 to 2021. During that time, he reached the 2019 Junior Bowl and was the Phantoms' leading tackler and 2021 Defensive Rookie MVP.
Luis Leatherman joined the Stuttgart Surge during the 2024 season, and according to head coach Jordan Neuman, his talent has made him a potential "future superstar of European football”. However, Leatherman is far from being a glamour boy when it comes to being part of the team: “I want to be part of a great team and compete at the highest level. Playing for Stuttgart Surge is an exciting challenge, and I want to help the team succeed.” The 22-year-old German linebacker has played 6 games for the Surge so far and comes from the Reutlingen Eagles, where he played from 2020 to 2023. Leatherman took his first steps in the sport with the Tübingen Red Knights from 2017 to 2018.
