Der Quarterback ist die wichtigste Position im American Football und nach der Verletzung des bisherigen Backups Michael Winterlik und der Versetzung auf die Injured Reserve Liste, musste Stuttgart Surge handeln und sich nach Ersatz umschauen. Der neue Mann ist gefunden, denn Janis Kaiser wechselt von den Saarland Hurricanes nach Stuttgart.
Janis spielt seit 2012 American Football und war dabei von Beginn an bei den Hurricanes in der saarländischen Hauptstadt Saarbrücken aktiv. Dort arbeitete er sich durch die verschiedenen Abteilungen der Jugendmannschaft nach oben, ehe er seit 2018 im Team der GFL Juniors auflief. Hier war der 1,83 m große und knapp 90 kg schwere Athlet bis 2020 aktiv und führte das Team auf der Position des Ballverteilers an. In der Zwischenzeit absolvierte er 2019 sein Abitur, um auch seine berufliche Karriere weiter voranzutreiben.
2021 wechselte Janis dann in die Ukrainian League of American Football zu den Vinnytsia Wolves und spielte mit dem Team eine erfolgreiche Saison. In der regulären Saison verlor das Team nur eins seiner sechs Spiele. Im Halbfinale kämpfte sich das Team nach einem 0:14-Rückstand wieder heran und lag kurz vor Schluss sogar in Führung, jedoch unterlag man am Ende dem späteren Titelgewinner Kiev Capitals knapp mit 21:18.
Anschließend kehrte Janis wieder zurück in die Heimat und schloss sich erneut den Saarland Hurricanes an, für die er nicht nur spielen sollte, sondern auch die Quarterbacks der U16-Abteilung des Vereins trainieren sollte. Nach einigen erfolgreichen Kurzeinsätzen bei der ersten Mannschaft, wechselt er nun zu Stuttgart Surge und wird Backup für Stammquarterback Dante Vandeven.
The quarterback is the most important position in football and after the injury of Michael Winterlik and his move to the injured reserve list, Stuttgart Surge had to act and look for a replacement. The new backup has been found, as Janis Kaiser comes from the Saarland Hurricanes to Stuttgart.
Janis has been playing football since 2012 and has always been a part of the Hurricanes in Saarland's capital Saarbrücken. He worked his way through all the youth teams before playing for the GFL Juniors side since 2018. There, the 6' 0" tall and about 195 lbs athlete was active until 2020 and led the team from the quarterback position. In the meantime, he successfully completed his Abitur in 2019 to further his professional career.
In 2021, Janis moved to the Ukrainian League of Football to join the Vinnytsia Wolves and played a successful season with the team. During the regular season, the team lost only one of its six games. In the semifinals, the team mounted a comeback from a 14-0 deficit and was leading late in the game, but narrowly missed out and lost to the eventual title winners Kiev Capitals by 21-18.
He then returned home and once again joined the Saarland Hurricanes, where he was not only destined to play but also coach the quarterbacks of the club's U16 team. After successfully playing a few short stints for the first team, he now moves to Stuttgart to be the backup for the regular starter Dante Vandeven.
