Die Betreibergesellschaft der Stuttgart Surge, amtierender europäischer Meister der European League of Football, hat am Freitag, dem 21. November 2025, offiziell einen Insolvenzantrag gestellt. Dieser Schritt wurde notwendig, da die gegenwärtigen strukturellen Rahmenbedingungen im europäischen American Football, die für eine geringe Planungssicherheit und mangelnde Zukunftsperspektive sorgen, eine erfolgreiche Rekapitalisierung erheblich erschwert haben.
Die American Football Club Stuttgart GmbH wurde 2020 mit dem Ziel gegründet, in Stuttgart American Football auf internationalem Top-Niveau zu etablieren. Nach sportlich herausfordernden Anfangsjahren 2021 und 2022 gelang dem Team in der Saison 2023 unter neuem Management und mit Head Coach Jordan Neuman der sportliche Durchbruch: Die Stuttgart Surge erreichte 2023 das Championship Game und wurde Vizemeister. 2025 folgte schließlich der Gewinn des Titels in der European League of Football vor heimischer Kulisse in der Stuttgarter MHPArena.
Die Stuttgart Surge spricht allen Fans, Supportern, Sponsoren, Partnern und Volunteers ihren tiefen Dank aus. Ohne ihre Unterstützung wäre es nicht möglich gewesen, American Football unter dem Stuttgarter Fernsehturm zu einer unvergesslichen sportlichen Erfolgsgeschichte werden zu lassen.
American Football Club Stuttgart GmbH Files for Bankruptcy
On Friday, November 21, 2025, the operating company of the Stuttgart Surge, the reigning European champions of the European League of Football, officially filed for bankruptcy. The current structural conditions in European American football provide little planning security and lack future prospects, making successful recapitalization considerably more difficult.
American Football Club Stuttgart GmbH was founded in 2020 with the goal of bringing American football to the top international level in Stuttgart. After challenging years in 2021 and 2022, the team achieved a sporting breakthrough in the 2023 season under new management and new head coach Jordan Neuman. The Stuttgart Surge made it to the championship game in 2023, ultimately finishing as runners-up. In 2025, they won the European League of Football Championship in front of a home crowd at Stuttgart's MHPArena.
