Nachdem sich der Surge-A-Importspieler Jeff Cotton Jr. am vergangenen Sonntag im Spiel gegen die Paris Musketeers verletzt hat, wurde er von der Stuttgart Surge auf die Injured Reserve List der European League of Football gesetzt.
Der Verlust von Jeff Cotton Jr. wird mit viel Erfahrung aus der NFL und in der CFL aufgefangen: Der 27-jährige US-Amerikaner Mike Harley Jr. wird ab sofort als Wide Receiver für die Stuttgart Surge im Einsatz sein.
Die Football-Karriere von Mike Harley Jr. war stets erstklassig: Von 2017 bis 2021 spielte er für die Miami Hurricanes in der NCAA Division I FBS und damit auf dem höchsten College-Football-Niveau in den Vereinigten Staaten. In dieser Zeit absolvierte er insgesamt 59 Spiele, fing 15 Touchdowns und erzeugte 2.158 Yards Raumgewinn. 2020 wurde er ins Third-Team der All-Atlantic Coast Conference berufen.
Während der Saisons 2022 und 2023 nahmen die Cleveland Browns aus der NFL ihn als Undrafted Free Agent für das Practice Squad unter Vertrag. 2024 war er zeitweilig bei den DC Defenders aus der United Football League (UFL) und bei den Miami Dolphins (NFL) engagiert. In der vergangenen Saison spielte er in der Canadian Football League (CFL) bei den Calgary Stampeders.
Nun wechselt er in die European League of Football, wo er direkt seine Fähigkeiten im Passspiel und Raumgewinn unter Beweis stellen wird.

After Jeff Cotton Jr. was injured in last Sunday's game against the Paris Musketeers, the Stuttgart Surge placed him on the European League of Football's Injured Reserve List.
The loss of Jeff Cotton Jr. will be compensated with a lot of experience from the NFL and the CFL: The 27-year-old American Mike Harley Jr. will join the Stuttgart Surge in the role of wide receiver in the European League of Football.
Mike Harley Jr.'s football career was first-class from the beginning. From 2017 to 2021, he played for the Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level of college football in the United States. During that period, he played in 59 games, caught 15 touchdown passes, and gained 2,158 yards. In 2020, he was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Third Team.
