Signing Nummer zwei für Stuttgart Surge ist in trockenen Tüchern und es ist wieder ein Wide Receiver. Yannick Mayr kommt von den Raiders Tirol nach Stuttgart und trifft hier wieder auf Jordan Neuman. Bereits 2021 spielte er unter dem Headcoach, damals noch in Schwäbisch Hall.
Statement Yannick Mayr: „Coach Neuman und ich kennen uns gut aus der Vergangenheit. Er und sein Coaching-Staff bringen eine ganz andere Energie nach Stuttgart, das spüre ich. Deshalb kann ich es kaum erwarten, mit ihnen zu arbeiten und Big Plays im GAZI-Stadion zu zeigen.”
Yannick Mayr: Der 26-Jährige gebürtige Salzburger spielt bereits seit 2010 American Football. Während er bei den Ducks zunächst als Quarterback spielte, kam er bei Spielen für die österreichische Jugendauswahl als Wide Receiver zum Einsatz und konnte 2015 mit dem Team die Jugend-Europameisterschaft gewinnen. Von 2013 bis 2016 wurde er kontinuierlich zum MVP der Ducks gewählt, bevor er für sein Studium der Sportwissenschaft den Wechsel zu den Vienna Vikings vollzog. Hier war er als Receiver eingeplant, spielte in seiner Zeit dort jedoch auf nahezu allen Skill-Positionen in der Offensive. 2017 konnte er mit den Vikings seinen ersten nationalen Titel gewinnen und 2020 den Erfolg wiederholen. 2019 wurde er zum NFL International Combine eingeladen und ist seit diesem Jahr auch Mitglied der österreichischen Nationalmannschaft. Zur Saison 2021 wechselte er in die GFL zu den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, wo er unter Coach Neuman als Receiver und Returner spielte und das Team in All-Purpose-Yards anführte. In der CEFL konnte Mayr mit den Einhörnern den Titel gewinnen, bevor er sich zur Saison 2022 den Raiders Tirol anschloss. Zuvor nahm der 1,83 m große und 90 kg schwere Österreicher im März am Combine der Canadian Football League teil. Da er im Draft nicht ausgewählt wurde, blieb er bei den Raiders. Verletzungsbedingt konnte er hier nur 4 Spiele starten, erzielte in diesen jedoch 385 Yards und 5 Touchdowns. Nun will er also im GAZI-Stadion zeigen, warum er als gefährlicher Deep Ball Receiver gilt.
Signing number two for the Stuttgart Surge is done and dusted and it's another wide receiver. Yannic Mayr comes from the Raiders Tirol to Stuttgart and will meet head coach Jordan Neuman again. He already played under Neuman in 2021, when they were both part of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns.

Yannick Mayr: The 26-year-old native of Salzburg has been playing American football since 2010. While he was initially used as a quarterback for the Ducks, he played wide receiver for the Austrian youth national teams and was able to win the European Youth Championship in 2015. He was continuously voted MVP of the Ducks from 2013 to 2016 before making the switch to the Vienna Vikings due to his studies in sports science. Although he was mainly expected to play receiver, Yannick played nearly every skill position on offense during his time there. In 2017, he won his first national title with the Vikings and repeated the success in 2020. A year before that, he was invited to the NFL International Combine and also joined the Austrian national team in 2019. For the 2021 season, he moved to the GFL to join the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, where he played as receiver and returner and led the team in all purpose yards. Together with the Unicorns he won the CEFL-title before joining the Raiders Tirol for the 2022 season of the European League of Football. Prior to playing, the 6′0″ and 198lbs Austrian participated in the Canadian Football League Combine in March, but ultimately wasn't drafted and stayed with the Raiders. Due to injuries, he was only abled to start 4 games, but racked up 385 yards and 5 touchdowns. Now he wants to prove at the GAZI-Stadium, why he is considered one of the most dangerous deep ball receivers in Europe.
