Die nächste Personalie bei den Wide Receivern ist fix. Peter Weiblen kehrt zurück zum Team und wird auch diese Saison wieder für Stuttgart Surge angreifen.
Der 21-Jährige erklärt seinen Verbleib wie folgt: „Ich bleibe bei Stuttgart Surge, da mir der Sport immer noch Spaß macht. Ich will mich dieses Jahr beweisen und es mir selbst zeigen, dass ich es noch kann und es letzte Saison keine einmalige Gelegenheit war. Mein Ziel ist es, natürlich besser zu sein als letztes Jahr und ich möchte auf jeden Fall einen Touchdown erzielen.”
Der 1,80 m große und 90 kg schwere Wide Receiver begann seine sportliche Laufbahn zunächst im Handball. Dort war er seit seinem achten Lebensjahr aktiv und kam erst mit 16 Jahren zum American Football. Die Lust am Handball verging ihm immer mehr und als ihn sein Bruder zum American Football mitnahm, blieb er dort dabei. Bei den Pattonville Generals konnte er sich als Receiver etablieren und traf zunächst auf noch heute bekannte Gesichter wie Julian Jakob und Julian Ludwig-Mayorga.
Anschließend folgte nach dem Abitur ein Auslandsjahr in den USA, wo er seine Begeisterung für den Sport natürlich voll ausleben konnte. Sportlich folgte dort eines seiner Highlights, als er gemeinsam mit seinem Team der Flint River Academy in Woodbury, Georgia, State Champion wurde. Nach seiner Rückkehr folgte zunächst ein Wechsel des gebürtigen Stuttgarters nach Thüringen zu den Saalfeld Titans. Für sein Studium kehrte er schließlich zurück in seine Heimat und wollte sich eigentlich den Stuttgart Scorpions anschließen. Nachdem er von der Gründung der ELF und Stuttgart Surge erfuhr, probierte er es hier aus und konnte sich einen Platz im Team erkämpfen. Dieses Jahr will er es also nochmals bestätigen, dass er zurecht zum Team gehört.
The next spot at the wide receiver group is claimed. Peter Weiblen returns to the team for the upcoming season and will again play for Stuttgart Surge.
The 21-year-old describes his decision to stay as follows: "I'm staying with Stuttgart Surge because I still enjoy the game. I want to prove to myself this year that I'm still able to play and that last season wasn't a one-off. My goals are of course improving my game compared to last year and I definitely want to score a touchdown."
The 5'11" tall and 198 lbs heavy receiver first started his sporting career with handball where he played since the age of 8. When he was 16 years old he slowly stopped enjoying handball and his brother took him along to American football where he stayed until today. He quickly established himself with the Pattonville Generals next to some familiar faces like Julian Jakob and Julian Ludwig-Mayorga.
After completing his Abitur, he spent a year abroad in the USA and where he was able to live out his enthusiasm for the sport. One of his sporting highlights was winning the state championship together with his team of the Flint River Academy from Woodbury, Georgia. The Stuttgart-native joined the Saalfeld Titans from Thüringen after returning back home from the USA and later came back to Stuttgart for his studies with plans to play for the Stuttgart Scorpions. When he heard the news about the formation of the ELF and Stuttgart Surge, he decided to join the tryout and successfully fought for a roster spot. This year he wants to prove that he rightfully belongs to the team.
