Wide Receiver Moritz Riedinger joins the Stuttgart Surge offense

The next signing for the offense is here. Wide Receiver Moritz Riedinger comes from the Potdsam Royals and switches German Football League for European League of Football.

Joining Stuttgart Surge was not a difficult decision for him: "I have decided to play for Stuttgart Surge this year because I immediately felt like the franchise wanted me to be here. They have revealed their plans for me right from the start and this together with the coaching has convinced me."

The 6'2" and 194 lbs wide receiver first played American football in 2015 with the Mannheim Bandits, as he wanted to participate at sport's highest level. At first he was used as a quarterback and safety and he had dreams of playing football in the States. In only his second season, he was asked to play for the Baden-Württemberg youth team and together with the team won a second place at the national youth tournament. In 2017, an invitation to join the tryout for the national youth team followed but unfortunately he couldn't secure a roster spot for the European Championships. At the end of the year, he was selected for the European Warriors though and played in Mexico City against a team of Mexican college athletes.

In 2019, his dream of playing college football became reality as he went to Greenville University in Illinois, to play as a wide receiver. There he not only learned a lot about football but also made lots of new friends. Participating in the Bowl Game was the icing on the cake for him. Last year he played for the Potsdam Royals of the GFL and reached the semi-finals of the playoffs together with his team. Although they lost to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns the experience was immensely valuable for Moritz. He now joins Stuttgart Surge and wants to prove that he belongs onto the European stage and feels at home at this level.
