Nach der ersten Saisonniederlage der Stuttgart Surge am vergangenen Sonntag, stand heute wieder ein Heimspiel auf dem Programm. Im Gazi Stadion auf der Waldau ging es gegen den Central Conference Rivalen Barcelona Dragons. Am Ende des Spiels stand ein überzeugender 33:14-Heimsieg.
Im ersten Viertel bekam die Offense der Surge zu Beginn den Ball und erzielte im ersten Drive direkt einen Touchdown. Ein Lauf von Running Back Phileas Pasqualini und ein Extra Punkt durch Kicker Lenny Krieg sorgten für die 7:0-Führung. Auch im zweiten Viertel erzielte Pasqualini einen Touchdown zum 14:0. Wenig später warf der neue Quarterback der Surge, Kenyatte Allen, seinen ersten Touchdown-Pass auf Wide Receiver Paul Steigerwald. Kurz vor der Halbzeit fing dann auch noch Wide Receiver Darrell Stewart einen Touchdown-Pass zur 27:0-Halbzeitführung.
Nachdem das dritte Viertel punktlos vorbei ging, erzielten die Dragons im vierten Viertel ihren ersten Touchdown durch einen Lauf des neuen Quarterbacks Carlton Aiken Jr. zum 27:6. Nach einem Fumble der Offense der Surge bekamen die Dragons gleich wieder den Ball und erzielten erneut einen Touchdown durch einen Pass auf Tight End Raul Cernuda Pastor. Durch eine erfolgreiche Two Point Conversion der Spanier stand es somit 27:14. Den Schlusspunkt setzte dann der Man of the Match, Phileas Pasqualini, mit seinem dritten Touchdown und zum 33:14-Endstand.
Mit dem Sieg gegen die Barcelona Dragons steht die Surge mit sechs Siegen und einer Niederlage weiterhin an der Spitze der Central Conference.

Jordan Neuman (Head Coach): „Es war eine großartige Reaktion auf die Niederlage. Wir haben es nicht auf uns beruhen lassen, wir haben daraus gelernt, und ich denke, es war ein Weckruf. Das hat uns motiviert, besser zu werden."
Phileas Pasqualini (Running Back): „Ich freue mich wirklich für die Mannschaft, denn wir haben letzte Woche eine schwere Niederlage erlitten. Ich denke, wir haben das gebraucht und diese Woche hart gearbeitet, um für heute gerüstet zu sein. Es war ein tolles Spiel, aber nicht perfekt.
Kenyatte Allen (Quarterback): „Es war ein großartiges Debüt. Wir haben gewonnen, das ist das Wichtigste. Es war eine Mannschaftsleistung, jeder hat in der Offense und Defense gut gespielt. Auch die Atmosphäre war großartig, wir haben tolle Fans.“
After the first defeat of the season for the Stuttgart Surge last Sunday, today was another home game on the schedule. In the Gazi Stadium on the Waldau the Surge faced the Central Conference rival Barcelona Dragons. The game ended with a convincing 33:14 victory at home.
In the first quarter, the Surge offense got the ball at the start and scored a touchdown right away in the first drive. A run by running back Phileas Pasqualini and an extra point by kicker Lenny Krieg gave the Surge a 7:0 lead. Pasqualini also scored a touchdown in the second quarter to make it 14:0, and a little later the Surge's new quarterback Kenyatte Allen threw his first touchdown pass to wide receiver Paul Steigerwald. Then, just before halftime, wide receiver Darrell Stewart also caught a touchdown pass for a 27:0 halftime lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Dragons scored their first touchdown in the fourth quarter with a run by new quarterback Carlton Aiken Jr. to make it 27:6. After a fumble by the Surge offense, the Dragons got the ball right back and scored another touchdown with a pass to tight end Raul Cernuda Pastor. A successful two-point conversion by the Spanish made it 27:14. The final points were scored by the Man of the Match, Phileas Pasqualini, with his third touchdown and the final score 33:14.
With the win over the Barcelona Dragons, the Surge remain atop the Central Conference standings with six wins and one loss.

Jordan Neuman (Head Coach): “It was a great job of responding to the loss. We didn’t let it hang over us, we learned from it, and I think it was a wake-up call. It motivated us to get better.”
Phileas Pasqualini (Running Back): “I´m really happy for the team, because we had a tough loss last week. I think we needed this and we worked hard this week to be ready for today. It was a great game, but not perfect.”
Kenyatte Allen (Quarterback): “It was a great debut. We won, that is the most important thing. It was a team effort, everyone played well on offense and defense. Also, the atmosphere was great, we have amazing fans.”
