Die Defensive-Line von Stuttgart Surge wächst weiter. Der 29-jährige Finne, Ville Valasti, kommt von den Helsinki Wolverines und spielt auf der Position des Defensive End. Nachdem er 2021 bereits eine Saison für Frankfurt Galaxy spielte, ist Stuttgart Surge schon sein zweites Team in der European League of Football.
Statement Ville Valasti: „Als Coach Neuman mich kontaktierte, um mir die Möglichkeit zu geben, für Stuttgart zu spielen, war das ein klarer Fall. Diese Franchise hat viele Höhen und Tiefen erlebt und ich glaube, dass diese Organisation unter Coach Neumans Stab zu einer der besten in Europa werden wird. Ich werde meinen Teil dazu beitragen und im Training die höchste Intensität an den Tag legen, meine Mitspieler weiterentwickeln und dem Team helfen, sein Saisonziel 2023 zu erreichen.“
Valasti kann auf viel Erfahrung zurückgreifen. Der 1,95m große und ca. 115kg schwere Defensive End begann seine Football-Karriere bereits 2011 bei seinem Heimatverein, den Helsinki Wolverines. Von 2016 bis 2018 wagte er den Schritt in die USA. Zunächst spielte er dort ein Jahr lang bei den Diablo Valley Vikings, einem Junior College in Kalifornien. Die nächsten zwei Jahre war er dann für die Eastern Michigan Eagles, einem Division I Programm in Ypsilanti, Michigan, im Einsatz. 2019 ging es für Valasti das erste Mal nach Deutschland. Dort spielte er eine Saison lang in der GFL-2 bei den Biberach Beavers. Auch in der European League of Football ging Valasti schon an den Start und konnte 2021 mit Frankfurt Galaxy den Meistertitel gewinnen. Außerdem spielt Valasti für die finnische Nationalmannschaft, mit der er bei der Europameisterschaft 2021 Bronze gewann. Nach einem weiteren Abstecher bei den Helsinki Wolverines in der Saison 2022, kehrt er nun in die ELF zurück und wird die D-Line von Stuttgart Surge verstärken.
The Defensive-Line of the Stuttgart Surge keeps growing. The 29-year-old Ville Valasti from Finland previously played for the Helsinki Wolverines as a Defensive End. Stuttgart Surge will be his second team in the European League of Football, after he played for Frankfurt Galaxy in 2021.

This franchise has seen a lot of ups and downs and I believe that under Coach Neumans' staff, this organisation will become one of the best in Europe. I will do my part and bring the highest intensity to practice, develop my teammates, and help the team to achieve its goal for the season 23.”
Valasti is a very experienced player. The 1,95m tall and approx. 115kg heavy Defensive End began his football-career back in 2011 at his hometown club, the Helsinki Wolverines. From 2016 to 2018 he took the chance to play in the USA. First, he played one season for the Diablo Valley Vikings, a junior college in California. The next two seasons he joined the Eastern Michigan Eagles, a Division I program in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In 2019 Valasti went to Germany for the first time, to play in the GFL-2 for the Biberach Beavers for one season. In 2021 he won the European League of Football with Frankfurt Galaxy. After another season with the Helsinki Wolverines in 2022, he now returns to the ELF to reinforce the Stuttgart Surge D-Line.
