Nach zwei knappen Spielen gegen die Leipzig Kings und dem Triple-Overtime-Kracher gegen Frankfurt Galaxy, sah man sich bei Stuttgart Surge eigentlich auf einem guten Weg und ging selbstbewusst ins Spiel gegen die Panthers Wroclaw. An diesem 7. Spieltag ging man jedoch wieder drei Schritte zurück und verlor hochverdient mit 34:0.
Beide Offenses konnten in ihren ersten Drives zunächst keine nennenswerten Ergebnisse erzielen. Stuttgart eroberte anschließend durch Paul Veritas ein Fumble der Panthers, schenkte den Ball zwei Plays später jedoch mit einem eigenen Fumble gleich wieder her. Wroclaw konnte daraus zunächst keinen Profit schlagen, eroberte im nächsten Stuttgarter Drive aber gleich nochmals den Ball durch eine Interception. Die Defense der Surge war zunächst noch sattelfest und konnte die Polen kurz vor der Endzone stoppen und den Spielstand bei 0:0 halten, mit dem es kurz darauf auch ins zweite Quarter ging. Hier wurde Dante Vandeven direkt in die Mangel genommen und ein Strip Sack führte zur 7:0-Führung der Gastgeber. Das Spiel wurde weiterhin von beiden Defenses dominiert, bevor eine wilde Sequenz folgte. Erst wurde der Stuttgarter Punt kurz vor der eigenen Endzone geblockt, bevor Malcolm Washington einen Pass abfing, der von der Ferse des Gegners ihm in die Arme fiel. Die Stuttgarter Offense kam jedoch weiterhin nicht zur Entfaltung und das Team gab den Panthers den Ball immer wieder in aussichtsreicher Position zurück. Eine davon nutzte Malik Stanley, der einen Touchdown zum 14:0 fing. Eine weitere Stuttgarter Interception und der nächste Touchdownpass von Slade Jarman, resultierten im Halbzeitstand von 0:20.
Im dritten Quarter änderte sich am Spielverlauf nicht viel, wohl jedoch am Spielstand. Nachdem mal wieder ein Stuttgarter Drive versandete, erhöhte Jarman durch einen Run zunächst selbst auf 27:0, bevor er auf Brzozowski pitchte und dieser zum 34:0 einlief. Im vierten Viertel folgte eine weitere Interception von Vandeven und ein vergebenes Field Goal der Panthers, bevor das Spiel gemütlich auslief. Wroclaw erzielte mehr Punkte als die Stuttgarter Net Passing Yards, die nun wieder einiges an Arbeit vor sich haben.
After highly contested games against the Leipzig Kings and the triple overtime thriller against the Frankfurt Galaxy, Stuttgart Surge felt like being on the right track again and therefore went into the game against the Panthers Wroclaw with a lot of confidence. However, gameday seven saw the Surge go three steps back again in the deserved 34-0 loss.
Both offenses initially struggled to get going, before Stuttgart linebacker Paul Veritas recovered a Panthers fumble, which the Surge promptly gave back two plays later with a fumble of their own. Wroclaw was unable to capitalize right away, but recovered the ball again on the next Stuttgart drive thanks to an interception. The Surge defense made a great goal line stop on fourth down to keep the game scoreless at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter startet with Dante Vandeven getting sacked and stripped of the ball, leading to the 7-0 lead for the hosts. The game continued to be dominated by two great defenses, before a wild sequence of plays ensued. First, Stuttgart's punt was blocked just outside their own endzone before the ball fell right into the arms of defensive back Malcolm Washington, after being tipped up by the heel of a Wroclaw receiver. The Surge offense constantly struggled to gain yards though and kept on giving the ball back in great field position for the Panthers. Malik Stanley took advantage of one of those, catching a touchdown to make it 14-0. Another Stuttgart interception resulted in the next touchdown pass from Slade Jarman and a halftime score of 20-0.
The flow of the game didn't change much in the third quarter, but the score did. After another Surge drive stalled, Jarman ran into the endzone himself to make it 27-0, before pitching to his back Brzozowski, who punched it in for the 34-0 lead. The fourth quarter offered not much excitement except for another Vandeven interception and a missed field goal by the Panthers. Wroclaw gained more points than Stuttgart net passing yards and the Surge has a lot of work to do again.
