Nach dem Abgang von Benhur Ayra und aufgrund der daraus entstehenden Lücke, musste Stuttgart Surge nochmal im Bereich der offensive Line handeln. Mit Abdelghafour Sedik kommt dabei ein Lineman, der sich bereits im Gazi-Stadion auf der Waldau auskennt.
Abdel spielte nämlich bereits von 2018 an für die Stuttgart Scorpions und ist deshalb bei vielen im Team von Stuttgart Surge kein Unbekannter. Bei den Scorpions war er als Center in der GFL aktiv und sorgte für Stabilität in der Mitte der Offensive Line. Mit den Unterbrechungen durch die Pandemie spielte er drei Jahre lang in Stuttgart, ehe er vor der diesjährigen Saison 2022 in die drittklassige Regionalliga zum Aufsteiger Fellbach Warriors wechselte. Dort war das erklärte Ziel des 1,76 m großen und 108 kg schweren Centers mit marokkanischen und ägyptischen Wurzeln, die beste Offensive Line der Liga zu stellen. In einer schweren Gruppe konnte sich Abdel mit den Warriors achtbar schlagen und sich mit dem Team in der Liga etablieren.
Abdel schaute dieses Jahr schon beim Tryout der Surge vorbei und blieb den Coaches in Erinnerung. Nun stößt er also zu einer Stuttgart O-Line, in der Lenny Sadzik im letzten Spiel zum ersten Mal die Position des Centers spielte und für den verletzten Thomas Ghebrezghiher einsprang. Es dürfte hier also auch nicht final bei den Positionen bleiben.
After the departure of Benhur Ayra and the gap left behind in the offensive line, Stuttgart Surge had to act. With Abdelghafour Sedik, an offensive lineman joins the Surge, who already knows the "Gazi Stadion auf der Waldau."
Abdel played for the Stuttgart Scorpions from 2018 onwards and is therefore no stranger to many in the Surge team. He played as a center for the Scorpions in the GFL and provided stability in the middle of the offensive line. With the cancellations due to the pandemic, he stayed in Stuttgart for three years before moving to the newly-promoted third-division side Fellbach Warriors prior to this year's 2022 season. There, the declared goal of the 5'9" tall and 240 lbs center with Moroccan and Egyptian roots was to be part of the best offensive line in the league. In a tough group, Abdel and the Warriors played respectably and established the team in the third division.
Abdel joined the Stuttgart Surge tryout this year and the coaches now seemed to remember him. He joins an offensive line of Stuttgart, that saw Lenny Sadzik play the center position for the first time last game, filling in for the injured Thomas Ghebrezghiher. Therefore, some more changes regarding the positions played can be expected here.
