Auch beim zweiten Signing der "College Edition" handelt es sich um einen gebürtigen Deutschen, der noch vor kurzem in Amerika an einem College spielte und für die Saison 2024 bei der Stuttgart Surge unterschrieben hat.
Heute handelt es sich um den Defensive Lineman Neville Krüger. Der 1,90 Meter große und 105 Kilogramm schwere Krüger kommt von den Dickinson Red Devils, mit denen er seit 2019 in der Centennial Conference (NCAA Division III) spielte. Dreimal in Folge schaffte Krüger den Sprung ins All-Centennial Conference Football-Team (2021, 2022 und 2023). Diese Ehrungen verdiente er sich durch herausragende Leistungen: In der Saison 2023 stand Krüger in 10 Spielen auf dem Platz und konnte 52 Total Tackles, 4 Tackles for Loss und 1,5 Sacks für sich verbuchen. 2022 kam er in 6 Spielen auf 32 Total Tackles, 2,5 Tackles for Loss und einen Sack. 2021 erzielte er in 10 Spielen 61 Total Tackles, 12 Tackles for Loss und 6 Sacks. Auch in seiner ersten Saison für die Dickinson Red Devils im Jahre 2019 war Krüger in allen 10 Spielen im Einsatz und war für 22 Total Tackles, 2 Tackles for Loss sowie einen Sack verantwortlich. Für diesen gelungenen Einstieg ins Team und in die Conference wurde er in dieser Saison teamintern zum Rookie of the Year gewählt. Was Neville Krüger, der in Elmshorn geboren wurde, also in Summe in den vier Spielzeiten in der NCAA Division III geleistet hat, ist bemerkenswert.
Vor seiner Zeit am Dickinson College war Neville Krüger von 2017 bis 2019 an der Linsly School in Wheeling, West Virginia. Dorthin gelangte er durch die Unterstützung von Gridiron Imports, wie es auch bei Leander Strathmann der Fall war. Für eine solche Förderung konnte sich Krüger bei den Elmshorn Fighting Pirates empfehlen, bei denen er von 2015 bis 2017 den American Football kennenlernte.
Mit breiter Brust kehrt Krüger nun nach Deutschland zurück und möchte in der European League of Football einiges erreichen. Über seine Entscheidung für die Stuttgart Surge sagt er Folgendes:
"Ich freue mich sehr, in der kommenden Saison für die Surge zu spielen und Teil einer so bemerkenswerten Organisation mit großartigen Trainern, Spielern und Fans zu sein. Das Ziel für das diesjährige Team ist klar, nachdem es in der letzten Saison nur knapp verfehlt wurde, und ich freue mich auf die Gelegenheit, beim Erreichen des Ziels eine Rolle spielen zu dürfen." – Neville Krüger
Also the second signing of the "College Edition" is a German-born player who recently played at a college in America and signed with the Stuttgart Surge for the 2024 season.
Today it's defensive lineman Neville Krüger. Krüger, who is 1.90 meters tall and weighs 105 kilograms, comes from the Dickinson Red Devils, with whom he has been playing in the Centennial Conference (NCAA Division III) since 2019. Krüger was named to the All-Centennial Conference football team three years in a row (2021, 2022 and 2023). He earned these honors through outstanding performance: In the 2023 season, Krüger played in 10 games and recorded 52 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. In 2022, he recorded 32 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack in 6 games. In 2021, he recorded 61 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 6 sacks in 10 games. In his first season with the Dickinson Red Devils in 2019, Krüger also played in all 10 games and was responsible for 22 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a sack. He was named the team's Rookie of the Year this season for his successful start with the team and in the conference. What the Elmshorn native has accomplished in his four seasons in NCAA Division III is remarkable.
Before his time at Dickinson College, Neville Krüger attended the Linsly School in Wheeling, West Virginia from 2017 to 2019. Krüger was able to recommend himself for such support at the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates, where he got to know American football from 2015 to 2017.
Now Krüger returns to Germany with a broad chest and wants to achieve a lot in the European League of Football. He has this to say about his decision to be part of the Stuttgart Surge:
