Bekanntermaßen fand im November auf der Waldau das erste Try-Out von Stuttgart Surge statt. Der erste Spieler, der sich hier durchsetzen konnte, ist nun unter Vertrag: Runningback Levin Liebenow.
Statement Levin Liebenow: „Ich bin froh, dass es geklappt hat und ich freue mich, für Stuttgart Surge zu Punkten. Außerdem werde ich mit vielen ehemaligen Kollegen wieder zusammen spielen. Vor allem fühle ich mich bei Stuttgart Surge gut aufgehoben.“
Liebenow begann in der Jugend bei den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, wechselte allerdings 2019 zur ersten Senior-Spielzeit zu den Mannheim Bandits. Bereits vier Mal wurde er zum MVP ausgewählt und das auch noch bei drei unterschiedlichen Mannschaften: 2016 bei den Baden-Württemberg Lions, 2018 bei den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in der Jugend für die Special Teams, 2019 bei den Unicorns in der Jugend für Ball-Handling und schließlich 2021 bei den Mannheim Bandits. Nun möchte der 22-Jährige also für Stuttgart Surge angreifen.
Bereits 2022 machte man in Stuttgart gute Erfahrungen mit einem offenen Try-Out. So konnte sich damals Offensive Linemen Marco Fischer einen Platz im finalen Roster ergattern. Dieses Jahr ist der 22-Jährige Levin Liebenow die erste Entdeckung des Try-Out.
As is well known, the first try-out of Stuttgart Surge took place in November at the GAZI-Stadion. The first player who made a name for himself there is now under contract: Runningback Levin Liebenow.
Statement Levin Liebenow: "I'm glad it worked out and I'm happy that in the future I can score for Stuttgart Surge. Also, I will play together with many former teammates again. Most of all, I feel like I'm in good hands with Stuttgart Surge."
Liebenow started in the youth teams of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, but moved to the Mannheim Bandits for his first senior season in 2019. He has already been selected MVP four times and accomplished that with three different teams: 2016 with the Baden-Württemberg Lions, 2018 with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns youth team for special teams, 2019 again with the Unicorns for ball handling and finally 2021 with the Mannheim Bandits. The 22-year-old now wants to compete for Stuttgart Surge.
Stuttgart already had good experiences with an open try-out in 2022. At that time, offensive linemen Marco Fischer was able to secure a spot on the final roster. This year, 22-year-old Levin Liebenow is the first discovery of the try-out.
