Die Gruppe der Runningbacks bekommt weitere Verstärkung. David Kovacevic wird in der kommenden ELF-Saison unterm Fernsehturm spielen und eine wertvolle Waffe in der Offense sein.
David über seine Entscheidung für Stuttgart Surge zu spielen: „Es gibt mehrere Gründe für meinen Wechsel. Erstens spielen viele meiner Freunde schon bei Stuttgart Surge, zweitens ist die ELF als Gesamtkonzept schon sehr interessant und drittens will ich mich noch einmal körperlich herausfordern. Ich will in diesem Jahr von Spiel zu Spiel das Beste herausholen und bestenfalls gewinnen.”
Der 1,79 m große und 93 kg schwere Runningback spielte in seiner Jugend Basketball im Verein. 2010 wechselte er jedoch zum American Football, da er für Basketball nicht groß genug war und Football besser zu seiner Statur passte. Zunächst schloss er sich den Fellbach Warriors an und war früh ein Garant für Touchdowns. Von Beginn an spielte er dabei als Runningback und fand die Lücken in der gegnerischen Verteidigung. 2017 folgte dann der Wechsel zu den Stuttgart Scorpions, um hier Erfahrungen in der GFL zu sammeln. Dort war er eine wichtige Stütze auf der Position der Runningbacks und konnte weiter auf sich aufmerksam machen.
Zu dieser Saison folgt also der Wechsel des 31-Jährigen zu Stuttgart Surge, wo er nochmals voll angreifen will. Der gebürtige Serbe konnte für seine Teams schon einige gewinnbringende Situationen erzielen und so ist es nur logisch, dass ein entscheidender Touchdown im 4. Viertel kurz vor Spielende zu einer seiner besten Erinnerungen im American Football zählt. Nun möchte er also die Spiele für Stuttgart Surge mitentscheiden und seinen Teil dazu beitragen, dass das Team möglichst viele Punkte einfährt und erfolgreich ist.

David says about his decision to play for Stuttgart Surge: "There are multiple reasons for my switch to the Surge. I have many friends who already play here, the ELF as a concept is very interesting and I want to challenge myself on a physical level. This year, I want to extract the maximum out of every game and win the games if possible."
The 5'10" tall and 205 lbs heavy running back played basketball in his youth before making the switch to American football in 2010 as this sport better suited his physique. He started with the Fellbach Warriors and was a reliable scorer right from the start as he had a knack of finding holes in the opposing defenses. In 2017, he made the switch to the Stuttgart Scorpions and gained experiences in the GFL. He was an important player with the Scorpions and could attract more interest in his play.
The 31-year-old now joins Stuttgart Surge for the upcoming season and promises to give everything. The native of Serbia has already had a lot of game-deciding moments in his career and therefore it is no surprise that he counts a game winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter as one of his best football memories. Now, he wants to decide the games in favor of Stuttgart Surge and wants to play his part in the team's success.
