Ein wahrer Hüne verstärkt die Offensive Line. 1,95 m Gardemaß, 152 kg Kampfgewicht und fast 10 Jahre Erfahrung bringt O-Liner Robin Häberle mit nach Stuttgart.
Robin zu seinem Einstieg bei Stuttgart Surge: “Ich bin jetzt 29 Jahre alt und wollte nochmal ganz oben angreifen und schauen was mein Peak ist. Ich habe letztes Jahr einige Spiele von Stuttgart Surge gesehen und man hat doch gemerkt, dass die Offensive Line nicht sehr erfahren war. Deshalb will ich dort meine fast 10-Jährige Erfahrung einbringen und das Team unterstützen.”
Wie so viele spielte er zunächst lange Fußball und kam aufgrund seiner Größe in der Defensive und im Tor zum Einsatz. Er fand jedoch nie ganz zum Sport und ging deshalb bereits mit 15 Jahren das erste Mal zum American Football nach Ravensburg. Das Strohfeuer erlosch bei den Razorbacks jedoch schnell wieder und erst als er mit 18 Jahren zurück nach Heilbronn kam, flammte es wieder auf.
Anschließend blieb Robin dem Sport und den Heilbronn Miners lange treu und erreichte 2012 mit dem Team eine beinahe perfekte Saison. Die Miners mussten sich nur hauchdünn in einem Spiel geschlagen geben, konnten die restlichen Spiele gewinnen und am Ende den Aufstieg feiern. Diese Saison sowie das erste Spiel in der Regionalliga vor knapp 1.000 Zuschauern blieben ihm als gute Erinnerungen im Gedächtnis erhalten, weshalb er sich nun freut, vor einer noch größeren Zuschauermenge zu spielen, da ihn das besonders motiviert.
Zuletzt suchte der 29-Jährige eine neue Herausforderung und war bei den Pforzheim Rhinos in der 1. Rugby-Bundesliga aktiv. Schlussendlich war auch diese Sportart nicht seine wahre Berufung und er kommt für die ELF-Saison 2022 wieder zum American Football zurück. Hier legt er jetzt wieder seinen vollen Fokus auf den Einsatz in der Offensive Line bei Stuttgart Surge.
A true giant strengthens the offensive line. Robin Häberle brings his immense size of 6' 5" and 335 lbs as well as nearly 10 years of experience to Stuttgart.
Robin on joining Stuttgart Surge: "I'm 29 years old now and wanted to attack at the top level again and see what my peak performance is. I saw a few games of Stuttgart Surge last season and realized that the offensive line lacked some experience, which is why I wanted to support the team with my knowledge of playing football for nearly 10 years now."
Like so many, he played soccer for an extended period and due to his size was used in defense and in goal. He never fully connected with the sport though and at 15 years old went to his first practice session for American football in Ravensburg with the Razorbacks. His newfound enthusiasm quickly went away again and it wasn't until he came back to Heilbronn at the age of 18 until he rediscovered it.
Robin remained loyal to the sport and his Heilbronn Miners for a long time and achieved an almost perfect season with the team in 2012. They only lost one game (by the smallest possible margin of one single point!) all season and celebrated promotion at the end of the year. He fondly remembers the 2012 season as well as his first game the following year, where he played in front of nearly 1,000 spectators, which is why he's extremely excited and motivated about the opportunity to play in front of an even bigger crowd this year.
During the last few years, the 29-year-old was looking for a new challenge and played rugby for the Pforzheim Rhinos in Germany's highest league. However, he realized that his biggest passion was still American football, which is the reason for his return to the sport for the upcoming 2022 ELF season. With Stuttgart Surge he now wants to fully concentrate on playing for the offensive line.
