Stuttgart Surge hat seinen Spielmacher für die Saison 2023 gefunden. Reilly Hennessey übernimmt das Ruder in der schwäbischen Landeshauptstadt und soll seine bisherigen Erfolge nun auch in der European League of Football fortsetzen.

Reilly Hennessey: Der 26-Jährige US-Amerikaner mit italienischem Pass kann in seiner Karriere bereits auf einige Erfolge zurückblicken. Als Spielmacher der Central Washington University (Div. II) wurde er Offensive Player of the Year 2018 in der Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Bei den Parma Panthers wurde er Italienischer Meister 2021, anschließend mit den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns Sieger im German Bowl 2022, CEFL Bowl 2022 und German Bowl MVP 2022. In der letzten Saison erzielte er bei den Einhörnern 2.088 Passing Yards, 27 Touchdowns und sagenhafte 72,6% Completions – die höchste Percentage aller Zeiten in der German Football League. Auch 2021 hinterließ er bei den Parma Panthers in der italienischen Liga einen bleibenden Eindruck: Hennessey sammelte 1.672 Passing Yards und 17 Touchdowns, dazu 26 Rushing Attempts für 211 Yards und zwei Touchdowns. Das alles wohlgemerkt in nur 8 Spielen. Er kann auf zwei perfekte Seasons zurückblicken und hat auf europäischem Boden insgesamt nur drei Spiele verloren. Der 1,91 m große und 100 kg schwere Quarterback hat sich bereits letzte Saison bei den Unicorns mit Coach Neuman vertraut gemacht und konnte dort zeigen, dass er nicht nur einer der Top Quarterbacks in Europa ist, sondern auch in Sachen Einstellung, Ehrgeiz und Teamgeist vorangeht. Gemeinsam wollen sie nun auch bei Stuttgart Surge ihre Erfolgsserie fortsetzen und der Franchise die langersehnten Siege bringen.

Reilly Hennessey: The 26-year-old U.S. native with an Italian passport has already enjoyed some success in his career. As a playmaker for the Central Washington University (Div. II), he was the 2018 Offensive Player of the Year in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. In 2021, he became Italian champion together with the Parma Panthers. One year later he moved to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and was the winner of the 2022 German Bowl, the 2022 CEFL Bowl and was also the 2022 German Bowl MVP. With the Unicorns he racked up 2,088 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and a whopping 72.6% completion percentage which was the highest percentage ever in the German Football League. He also left a lasting impression with the Parma Panthers in the Italian league in 2021: Hennessey collected 1,672 passing yards, 17 passing touchdowns, 26 rushing attempts for 211 yards and two rushing touchdowns. All of that in just 8 games. He played two perfect seasons in 2021 and 2022 and has lost just three games overall since coming to Europe. The 6′3″ tall and 220 lbs quarterback already got familiar with coach Neuman last season with the Unicorns and has shown there that he is not only one of the top quarterbacks in Europe, but also leads the way in terms of attitude, ambition and team spirit.
