Stuttgart Surge nutzt die spielfreie Bye Week und erhöht weiterhin die Qualität des Rosters durch das Signing des dreifachen GFL- und CFL-Champions Raheem Wilson. Der US-Amerikaner wird das Defensive Backfield der Stuttgart Surge mit zusätzlicher Erfahrung verstärken, nachdem Christian Tutt auf die Injured Reserve List gesetzt wurde.
Der 30-jährige Raheem Wilson ist in Deutschland kein Unbekannter: In den Jahren 2017 und 2018 spielte er unter Jordan Neuman für die Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns und gewann in beiden Saisons den German Bowl. Wilson trifft in Stuttgart somit auf einige Bekannte aus dem damaligen Haller Kader.
Aufgrund seiner Leistungen in den beiden Meisterschaftssaisons in Deutschland gelang Raheem Wilson der Sprung in die CFL. Für die Calgary Stampeders war er drei Jahre lang im Einsatz (2019-2022; 2020 fand kein Spielbetrieb statt) und konnte in 45 Spielen insgesamt 127 Total Tackles anbringen und fing 3 Interceptions. In der vergangenen Saison 2023 wechselte Wilson innerhalb der Canadian Football League zu den Montreal Alouettes, mit denen er sich den Grey Cup und somit die Meisterschaft sichern konnte.
Nun kehrt der in Honolulu (Hawaii) geborene US-Amerikaner, der in seiner Jugend an der DeSoto High School und an der Southeastern Oklahoma State University (NCAA Div. II) spielte und an letztgenannter Station bis heute als All Time Interception Leader amtiert, zurück nach Deutschland und möchte mit seinem alten und neuen Head Coach um den europäischen Titel kämpfen:

The 30-year-old Raheem Wilson is no stranger to Germany: He played for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns under Jordan Neuman in 2017 and 2018, winning the German Bowl both seasons. As a result, Wilson will see some familiar faces from his former Hall squad in Stuttgart.
Raheem Wilson made the jump to the CFL on the strength of his performances in the two championship seasons in Germany. He played for the Calgary Stampeders for three years (2019-2022, no games in 2020 due to COVID), recording 127 total tackles and three interceptions in 45 games. In the 2023 season, Wilson moved within the Canadian Football League to the Montreal Alouettes, with whom he won the Grey Cup and thus the championship.
Now the Honolulu-born American, who played at DeSoto High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (NCAA Div. II) in his youth and is still the all-time interception leader at the latter, is returning to Germany to compete for the European title with his old and new head coach:
