Nach dem 33:14-Heimsieg gegen die Barcelona Dragons am vergangenen Sonntag geht es für die Stuttgart Surge in Woche 9 nach Italien. Am Samstag, dem 29. Juli, um 19 Uhr ist Kickoff für das Spiel gegen die Milano Seamen im Velodromo Maspes-Vigorelli in Mailand.
Das Hinspiel gegen den Central Conference Rivalen aus Mailand konnte die Surge in Stuttgart mit 40:26 für sich entscheiden. Die Milano Seamen verloren ihr Auswärtsspiel am vergangen Spieltag bei den Helvetic Guards knapp in der Overtime mit 24:31. Dadurch stehen die Seamen mit einem Sieg und sechs Niederlagen auf dem letzten Platz der Central Conference, während die Surge mit sechs Siegen und einer Niederlage an der Spitze steht.
Die Offense der Seamen wird angeführt von dem US-Quarterback Luke Zahradka, der in dieser Saison bisher für 2200 Yards und 14 Touchdowns aber auch 11 Interceptions warf. Seine beiden Topanspielstationen sind die Wide Receiver Jean Constant mit 750 Yards und drei Touchdowns und Juan Flores-Calderon mit 515 Yards und vier Touchdowns. In der Defense verpflichteten die Seamen kürzlich den US-Safety Devan Burrell, der zuvor für die Leipzig Kings spielte. Bei seinem Debüt für die Seamen konnte er im vergangenen Spiel gegen die Guards eine Interception und einen Punt-Return-Touchdown verbuchen.
Auf die Surge wartet also keine leichte Aufgabe in Mailand. Trotzdem soll am Ende der siebte Saisonsieg stehen.
After the 33:14 home win against the Barcelona Dragons last Sunday, the Stuttgart Surge head to Italy in Week 9. Kickoff for the game against the Milano Seamen at the Velodromo Maspes-Vigorelli in Milan is on Saturday, the 29th of July at 7pm.
The Surge won the first match against their Central Conference rivals from Milan 40:26 in Stuttgart. The Milano Seamen lost their away game last matchday at the Helvetic Guards by a narrow 24:31 margin in overtime. This leaves the Seamen in last place in the Central Conference with one win and six losses, while the Surge are at the top with six wins and one loss.
The Seamen offense is led by US quarterback Luke Zahradka, who has thrown for 2200 yards and 14 touchdowns but also 11 interceptions so far this season. His top two receiving targets are wide receivers Jean Constant with 750 yards and three touchdowns and Juan Flores-Calderon with 515 yards and four touchdowns. So, there is no easy task awaiting the Surge in Milan. Nevertheless, the seventh win of the season is the goal.
