Nach der ersten Saisonniederlage am vergangen Sonntag in der Schweiz bei den Helvetic Guards, steht nun wieder ein Heimspiel für die Stuttgart Surge an. Am Sonntag, dem 23. Juli, um 13 Uhr ist Kickoff im Gazi Stadion auf der Waldau für das Spiel gegen die Barcelona Dragons. Nach der 13:31-Niederlage gegen die Guards will die Surge nun wieder auf die Siegerstraße zurückkehren.
Die Barcelona Dragons sind dabei keine leichte Aufgabe. Die Dragons spielen mit der Surge in der Central Conference der European League of Football und stehen dort mit zwei Siegen und vier Niederlagen auf Platz vier. Stuttgart Surge führt die Central Conference mit fünf Siegen und einer Niederlage an. Wie die Stuttgart Surge sind auch die Barcelona Dragons seit der ersten Saison in der ELF am Start. In der letzten Saison gelang ihnen der Einzug in die Playoffs, wo allerdings nach dem Halbfinale gegen die Vienna Vikings Schluss war.
Die Offense der Dragons wird in dieser Saison von US-Quarterback Connor Miller angeführt, der bisher für 1700 Yards und 13 Touchdowns warf. Seine Lieblingsanspielstationen sind der schwedische Wide Receiver Theodor Landström mit 575 Yards und sieben Touchdowns, und der US-amerikanische Receiver Joshua Johnston mit 530 Yards und zwei Touchdowns. In der Dragons-Defense sticht bisher vor allem der US-amerikanische Cornerback Luke Glenna mit drei Interceptions heraus. Angeführt wird das Team vom mexikanischen Head Coach Gabriel Sánchez, der in der vorherigen Saison bereits Defensive Coordinator und Defensive Backs Coach der Dragons war.
Für die Stuttgart Surge wird der neue Quarterback Kenyatte Allen am Sonntag sein Debüt feiern. Der US-Amerikaner spielte die bisherige Saison bei den Leipzig Kings, wo er für 740 Yards und vier Touchdowns warf. Nun will er in seinem ersten Spiel für die Surge vor ca. 4.000 Fans auf der Waldau zeigen, was er kann.

Kickoff is on Sunday, the 23rd of July, at 1 p.m. in the Gazi Stadium on the Waldau for the game against the Barcelona Dragons. After the 13:31 defeat against the Guards, the Surge now want to get back on the winning track.
The Barcelona Dragons are no easy task. The Dragons play with the Surge in the Central Conference of the European League of Football and are in fourth place with two wins and four losses. Stuttgart Surge lead the Central Conference with five wins and one defeat. Like the Stuttgart Surge, the Barcelona Dragons have been in the ELF since the inaugural season. Last season they made it to the playoffs but were eliminated after the semi-finals against the Vienna Vikings.
