Nick Wenzelburger ist ein Mann der ersten Stunde. Seit der Gründung der European League of Football im Sommer 2021 spielt der gebürtige Stuttgarter mit dem Blitz der Surge auf dem Helm. Mit der Vertragsverlängerung für die Saison 2024 geht der Safety bereits in seine vierte Spielzeit für die Stuttgarter Franchise.
Der 24-jährige Wenzelburger ist Stuttgarter durch und durch und spielt seit vielen Jahren schon American Football unter'm Fernsehturm. Im Alter von 12 Jahren schnürte er 2011 zum ersten Mal seine Cleats für die Stuttgart Scorpions, für die er bis zu seinem Wechsel in die European League of Football spielte.
In der Gründungssaison 2021 schaffte es Wenzelburger trotz zahlreicher Niederlagen der Surge ins All Star-Team der Liga: In 10 Spielen attackierte der Safety mit insgesamt 38 Total Tackles und war verantwortlich für eine Interception, einen Tackle for Loss und forcierte einen Fumble. In der Saison 2023 konnte Wenzelburger seine Leistungen nochmals deutlich steigern und kam in 15 Spielen auf beachtliche 83 Total Tackles und konnte 4 Interceptions fangen, womit "Pick-Nick" auf Platz 4 der Liga-Rangliste landete.
Seit Bestehen der Stuttgart Surge ist Wenzelburger eine Stütze des Teams und wird auch in der kommenden Saison das Defensive Backfield antreiben:

Nick Wenzelburger is a man of the first hour. Since the European League of Football was founded in the summer of 2021, the Stuttgart native has been playing with the Surge lightning bolt on his helmet. With a contract extension through the 2024 season, the safety is already entering his fourth season with the Stuttgart franchise.
A native of Stuttgart, Germany, the 24-year-old Wenzelburger has been playing American football under the TV tower for many years. He first laced up his cleats for the Stuttgart Scorpions in 2011 at the age of 12 and played for them until his move to the European League of Football.
In the inaugural 2021 season, Wenzelburger made the league's all-star team despite the Surge's many losses: in 10 games, the safety made a total of 38 tackles and was responsible for an interception, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. In the 2023 season, Wenzelburger stepped up his game once again, recording an impressive 83 total tackles and 4 interceptions in 15 games, ranking "Pick-Nick" 4th in the league.
Wenzelburger has been a pillar of the Stuttgart Surge since the team's inception and will continue to lead the defensive backfield in the coming season:
