Der französische Running Back Nicolas Khandar wird das Backfield der Stuttgart Surge verstärken. Zuvor spielte der 30-jährige Khandar für die Black Panthers Thonon in Frankreich.
Statement Nicolas Khandar: „Ich habe mich für die Surge entschieden, weil ich eine Meisterschaft gewinnen will und für Coach Neuman spielen möchte.“
Seine Karriere begann der 1,75m große und ca. 92kg schwere Khandar bereits 2007 bei den Corsaires Evry, wo er bis 2011 für die U16 und U19 spielte. Für die Saison 2012 schloss er sich den Spartiates d´Amiens an, wo er seine erste französische Meisterschaft gewann. 2013 spielte er in Kanada für die College-Mannschaft des Cégep de Thetford in Quebec. Von 2014 bis 2016 setzte er sein Studium an der McGill University in Montreal fort, wo er für die McGill Redbirds spielte. Anschließend kehrte er nach Frankreich zurück und spielte von 2018 bis 2020 für Flash de la Courneuve. Dort gewann er 2018 seine zweite französische Meisterschaft. 2022 schloss er sich dann den Black Panthers Thonon an, wo er bis zuletzt spielte und 2023 der League-MVP war. Mit den Panthers gewann Khandar in diesem Jahr bereits seine dritte französische Meisterschaft und stand auch im Finale des CEFL-Bowls. Dieses ging allerdings gegen seinen ehemaligen Verein Flash de la Courneuve mit 21:26 verloren. Jetzt will Khandar mit der Surge seinen ersten Titel außerhalb Frankreichs gewinnen.

Khandar, who is 1.75m tall and weighs around 92kg, began his career back in 2007 with the Corsaires Evry, where he played for the U16 and U19 teams until 2011. For the 2012 season, he joined the Spartiates d'Amiens, where he won his first French championship. In 2013, he played in Canada for the Cégep de Thetford college team in Quebec. From 2014 to 2016, he continued his studies at McGill University in Montreal, where he played for the McGill Redbirds. He then returned to France and played for the Flash de la Courneuve from 2018 to 2020. There, he won his second French championship in 2018. He then joined the Black Panthers Thonon in 2022, where he played until recently and was the League MVP in 2023. Khandar won his third French championship with the Panthers this year and reached the final of the CEFL Bowl. However, this was lost 21:26 to his former club Flash de la Courneuve. Now, Khandar wants to win his first title outside of France with the Surge.
