Wer aufmerksam beim letzten Spiel gegen die Panthers Wroclaw zugeschaut hat, der wird bereits bemerkt haben, dass es einen Neuzugang in der Offensive Line gab. Der Franzose Maxime Roussel ist seit Woche sieben dabei und trägt nun die Nummer 66 als Offensive Lineman von Stuttgart Surge.
Maxime bringt schon über ein Jahrzehnt an Erfahrung im American Football mit, denn bereits 2011 begann er bei den Argonautes d'Aix en Provence in Frankreich mit dem Sport. Seinem ersten Team blieb er einige Jahre treu, bevor er zu den Canonniers de Toulon wechselte, um dort neue Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Sieben Jahre Football in seinem Heimatland waren genug für einen Tapetenwechsel und 2018 ging er nach Kanada an eine High School. Dort schnürte er seine Schuhe für die Pionniers de Rimouski.
Hier blieb er zwei Jahre lang, bevor er nach Frankreich zurückkehrte und mit den Iron Mask de Cannes bei seinem dritten unterschiedlichen Team spielte. 2020 hielt er sich auch dort beim Team fit, während die Saison coronabedingt abgesagt wurde. Ein Jahr später folgte der erste Wechsel nach Deutschland zu den Saarland Hurricanes in die GFL. Sein erstes Spiel führte ihn hier gleich nach Stuttgart, da die Scorpions der erste Gegner waren. Nach der Saison zog es ihn im November nach Finnland, wo er für die Seinäjoki Crocodiles in der Line blockte.
Dabei kann er seine 1,94 m Größe und sein Gewicht von 137 kg nicht nur als Offensive Lineman einsetzen. Auch in der Defensive Line hat er schon Spiele absolviert und kennt deshalb beide Seiten im Football. Gegen die Panthers Wroclaw hat er bereits seine ersten Snaps für die Surge gespielt und wird dem Team in Zukunft weiterhelfen.
Some may have already noticed a new face in the offensive Line of the Surge at the game against the Panther Wroclaw. Frenchman Maxime Roussel has joined the team in week seven and wears number 66 as offensive lineman for the Surge.
Maxime brings over a decade of experience in American football as he started already in 2011 with the Argonauts d’Aix en Provence in his native France. He stayed with his first team for a few years before making the switch to the Chansonniers de Toulon. Seven years of football in his home country were enough for a change of scenery and in 2018 he went to a High School in Canada. There he laced up his cleats for the Pioneers de Rimouski.
He stayed for two years before returning to France to play for his third different team, the Iron Mask de Cannes. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic, but he remained with the team to practice and stay active. A year later followed his first move to Germany to the Saarland Hurricanes of the GFL. His first game took him to Stuttgart where he played the Scorpions. After the season in November, he joined the offensive line of the Seinäjoki Crocodiles in Finland.
He can use his height of 6' 0“ and his weight of 302 lbs not only as an offensive lineman though. He has also played as a defensive lineman and therefore knows both sides of the sport. He already played his first snaps against the Panthers Wroclaw and will help the team in the future.
