Die Defense bei Stuttgart Surge nimmt weiter Gestalt an. Der dritte Linebacker für die kommende Saison steht nun fest und mit Benjamin Spieß kommt ein weiterer Spieler aus Schwäbisch Hall nach Stuttgart.

Mit 12 Jahren Erfahrung im American Football ist Benjamin Spieß zweifelsfrei eine Bereicherung für die Surge. Mit zwei Vizemeistertiteln in der Regionalliga Südwest, einem German Bowl und zwei CEFL Bowls, konnte man aber nicht nur einen erfahrenen, sondern auch einen erfolgreichen Mann verpflichten.
Der 103 kg schwere und 1,82 m große Linebacker begann seine Karriere in seiner Heimat bei den Weinheim Longhorns in der Jugend. Seinem ersten Team blieb er lange treu und spielte dort auch zwei Jahre als Senior, bevor er 2020 zu den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in die GFL 1 wechselte und hier auf Titeljagd ging. Nach drei Meisterschaften (1x GFL, 2x CEFL) kommt nun also der Wechsel in die European League of Football. Dort wird er zusammen mit Maleka Japhet Mbala und Nikolas Knoblauch unter David Zeller und Daniel McCray für Stuttgart Surge spielen.
The Stuttgart Surge defense continues to take shape. The third linebacker for the upcoming season is now confirmed and with Benjamin Spieß another player from Schwäbisch Hall joins Stuttgart.

With 12 years of experience in American football, Benjamin Spieß is undoubtedly an asset for the Surge. With two runner-up titles in the Regionalliga Südwest (4 th tier), one German Bowl and two CEFL Bowls, the Surge were able to sign not only an experienced, but also a successful player. The 227 lbs and 6′0″ tall linebacker started his career with the youth teams of the Weinheim Longhorns. He remained loyal to his first team for a long time and also played there for two years as a senior, before making the switch to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns of the GFL 1 in 2020, where he went on a title hunt. After three championships (1x GFL, 2x CEFL), he now joins the European League of Football.
At Stuttgart Surge he will play together with Maleka Japhet Mbala and Nikolas Knoblauch under coaches David Zeller and Daniel McCray.
