Vor kurzem war Marlon Werthmann noch als NFL International Player Pathway Program- Spieler in den USA. Nun wird der 21-jährige Mannheimer die O-Line von Stuttgart Surge verstärken. Werthmann kann als Center und Guard eingesetzt werden.
Statement Marlon Werthmann: „Ich habe mich entschieden, aufgrund des Talents und der Qualität der Spieler und Coaches dieses Jahr für die Surge zu spielen. Ich werde alles tun, was ich kann, um dem Team zu helfen, zu gewinnen und eine Kultur rund um den Football in Stuttgart aufzubauen, go Surge!“
Der 1,93m große und ca. 140kg schwere Werthmann begann seine Karriere 2014 in der U13 der Mannheim Bandits. Er spielte bis zur U19 bei den Bandits und schloss sich dann 2019 der U19 der Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns an. Ab 2021 spielte Werthmann in der Herrenmannschaft der Unicorns. Mit den Unicorns gewann Werthmann den German Bowl (2022) und zweimal den CEFL Bowl (2021, 2022). Anschließend wurde Werthmann von der NFL für das „International Player Pathway Program“ ausgewählt, schaffte aber nicht den Sprung in ein NFL-Team. Nun schließt sich der talentierte O-Liner der Surge an.

Werthmann, who is 1.93m tall and weighs around 140kg, began his career in 2014 with the Mannheim Bandits U13. He played with the Bandits until the U19 and then joined the U19 of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in 2019. From 2021 Werthmann played in the Unicorns' men's team. With the Unicorns, Werthmann won the German Bowl once (2022) and the CEFL Bowl twice (2021, 2022). Werthmann was then selected by the NFL for the "International Player Pathway Program", but did not make the jump to an NFL team. Now the talented O-lineman joins the Surge.
