Stuttgart Surge hat einen weiteren europäischen Spieler für die kommende Saison verpflichtet. Der Franzose Paul Veritas kommt von den New Yorker Lions Braunschweig und wird die Gruppe der Linebacker verstärken.
„Ich habe mich für Surge entschieden, weil ich Coaching Staff, die Stadt und die
Herausforderung mag. Ich möchte mit meiner Erfahrung das Team unterstützen. Zudem
möchte ich gerne ein starker Spieler in Europa werden und meinem Team helfen, jedes
Spiel zu gewinnen“, erklärt Veritas.
Im Alter von 14 Jahren begann der sportverrückte Franzose mit American Football. Zuvor
hatte er bereits zahlreiche Sportarten wie Fußball, Schwimmen, Judo und Leichtathletik
ausprobiert. Bei den Les Monarques de Saint Denis hat er dann seine Bestimmung
gefunden. Nach fünf Jahren dort zog es ihn nach Kanada, wo er dann zunächst für die
Cégep de Thetford spielte. 2015 gewann er mit seinem Team die Meisterschaft und
wurde 2016 zum Defensive MVP gewählt.
Anschließend wechselte er für zwei Jahre zur University of Concordia, ehe er 2019 zurück
in seine französische Heimat kehrte. Mit seinem Ex-Team wurde er Regionalmeister und
wurde zum MVP und Finals MVP gewählt. 2020 wollte er dann für die Cannes Iron Mask
spielen, doch die Saison wurde wegen der Pandemie abgesagt. Selbiges galt auch für
das folgende Jahr, als der leidenschaftliche Koch für die Thonon Black Panthers auflaufen
wollte.
Im Sommer wechselte der 26-Jährige dann in die GFL, um für den Rekordmeister New
Yorker Lions Braunschweig zu spielen. Mit 19 Tackles, vier Tackles for Loss, zwei Sacks
und einem forced Fumble in nur sechs Partien machte Paul auf sich aufmerksam. Nun
möchte der französische Nationalspieler und EM-Vierte von 2021, der auch schon Free
Safety und Strong Safety gespielt hat, seine Qualitäten in der höchsten europäischen
Spielklasse beweisen.
Stuttgart Surge has signed another European player for the upcoming season. Frenchman Paul Veritas, who played for the New York Lions Braunschweig, will support the group of linebackers.
“I’ve decided to join Stuttgart Surge because I like the coaching staff, the city and the challenge. I want to support the team with my experience. In addition, I’d like to become one of the best players in Europe and help my team win every game”, Veritas states.
The sports enthusiast has started playing American football at the age of 14. Before that, he had already tried several other kinds of sports such as soccer, swimming, judo and athletics. He then discovered his true passion with the Les Monarques de Saint Denis. After five years he moved to Canada where he first played for Cégep de Thetford. He then went on to win the championship with his team in 2015 and was elected defensive MVP in 2016.
After that, he joined the University of Concordia for two years and in 2019 finally returned home to France. He became regional champion with his former team and was elected MVP and Finals MVP. In 2020 he wanted to play for the Cannes Iron Mask but the season was cancelled due to the pandemic. The same happened the following year when the passionate cook wanted to play for the Thonon Black Panthers.
Last summer the 26-year-old switched to the GFL to play for the team with the most championships in Germany, the New Yorker Lions Braunschweig. Paul attracted a lot of attention with 19 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble in only six games. The French national player, who came fourth in the European Championships with his team and who’s also already played free safety and strong safety, is now planning on proving his skills in the best European league.
