Am Samstag, dem 10. Juni, um 17 Uhr ist es endlich so weit. Dann ist Kickoff für das erste Saisonspiel von Stuttgart Surge. Im Stade Jean-Bouin in Paris geht es gegen das neue ELF-Team Paris Musketeers.
Während es für Stuttgart Surge das erste Spiel der Saison ist, spielte Paris am letzten Wochenende bereits das erste Spiel der Franchise-Geschichte in Köln gegen die Cologne Centurions. Die Musketeers besiegten die Centurions in einem engen Spiel mit 24:17. Im letzten Drive der Musketeers sicherte sich die Offense um Quarterback Zach Edwards mit einem Touchdown den Sieg.
In Zach Edwards holten die Musketeers einen der besten Quarterbacks der European League of Football nach Paris. In der letzten Saison lief der US-Amerikaner für die Barcelona Dragons auf und führte die Liga am Ende der Saison in Passing Yards und Passing Touchdowns an. Auch seine Lieblingsanspielstation aus Barcelona spielt nun mit Edwards für die Musketeers. Der US-Amerikaner Kyle Sweet wurde in der Saison 2022 mit beeindruckenden Zahlen zum Offensive Player of the Year ausgezeichnet. Er fing für 1561 Yards und erzielte 17 Touchdowns. Mit weiteren Spielern wie dem spanischen Tight End Adrià Botella Moreno und dem französischen Running Back Jason Aguemon gilt die Offense der Musketeers als eine der besten der Liga. Angeführt wird das Team vom US-amerikanischen Head Coach Marc Mattioli, der in der Saison 2021 den Italian Bowl Titel mit den Parma
Panthers gewann. Der Quarterback der mit Mattioli den Italian Bowl gewann? Reilly Hennessey, der nun die Offense der Surge anführt.
Für Mattioli und Hennessey kommt es am Samstag also zu einem Wiedersehen, dass Hennessey und die Surge für sich entscheiden wollen.
