Jedes Team hat einen Mannschaftsarzt, aber nur die Surge hat ihren "Doc": Die Stuttgarter Franchise hat den Vertrag mit Wide Receiver Florian Lengauer für die Saison 2024 verlängert. Der gebürtige Münchner spielte bereits 2023 für die Surge und trug den Namen "Dr. Lengauer" auf dem Trikot.
Lengauer ist ein absolutes Allroundtalent, was an verschiedenen Stellen deutlich wird: Er spielt nicht nur als Footballspieler in der European League of Football, sondern promovierte zudem noch in Pharmazeutischer Biologie und erlangte damit seinen Doktortitel der Naturwissenschaften. Darüber hinaus ist es bemerkenswert, dass Lengauer erst 2021 bei den Munich Cowboys, bei denen er bis 2022 spielte, mit dem American Football begann und dort in seiner ersten Saison im American Football direkt zum Rookie of the Year gewählt wurde. Zuvor war er mehrere Jahre im Fußball aktiv. Außerdem ist Lengauer auch auf den Positionen äußerst flexibel und vielseitig einsetzbar. In der vergangenen Saison kam er als Wide Receiver, Punter und zeitweise auch in der Defense zum Einsatz.
Als Wide Receiver erzielte Lengauer insgesamt 2 Touchdowns und fing Bälle für 132 Yards. Als Punter kickte er den Ball 44 Mal für 1.535 Yards, womit er in der vergangenen Saison zu den Top 8 Puntern der Liga zählte. Sein längster Punt betrug beachtliche 80 Yards, womit er ligaweit den weitesten Punt tätigte.
Das Multitalent ist längst nicht am Ende seiner Entwicklung angelangt und wird auch in der kommenden Saison mit seiner Vielseitigkeit dem Team zum Erfolg verhelfen:

Every team has a team physician, but only the Surge has their "doc": The Stuttgart franchise has signed wide receiver Florian Lengauer to a contract extension through the 2024 season. The Munich native played for the Surge in 2023 and wore the name "Dr. Lengauer" on his jersey.
Lengauer is a true multi-talent: Not only does Lengauer play football in the European League of Football, but he also holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Biology. It is also worth noting that Lengauer started playing American football in 2021 with the Munich Cowboys, where he played until 2022 and was voted Rookie of the Year there in his first season in American football. Before that, he played soccer for several years. Lengauer is also extremely flexible and versatile in his positions. Last season he saw action as a wide receiver, punter and at times on defense.
As a wide receiver, Lengauer scored a total of 2 touchdowns and caught balls for 132 yards. As a punter, he kicked the ball 44 times for 1,535 yards, making him one of the top 8 punters in the league last season. His longest punt was a remarkable 80 yards, making him the longest punter in the league.
The all-rounder has not reached the end of his development and will continue to contribute to the team's success with his versatility in the coming season:
