Defensive Line gets next addition with Alexander Kreß

The Defensive Line of Stuttgart Surge gets another addition. With Alexander Kreß, another very successful defensive lineman will be on the field for Stuttgart Surge in 2023.

Statement Alexander Kreß: "I'm looking forward to the challenges of the coming season, the European League of Football as a league and the Stuttgart Surge as my new team."

The 28-year-old started playing American football at the age of 16 with the Albershausen Crusaders and eventually played his first season as a senior in 2013. Kreß won two regional league championships and promotions to the GFL2 with the Crusaders before moving to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns of the GFL1 in 2017. Here he won three German championships with the team and added two titles as champion of the CEFL. In 2021, he played for the Stockholm Mean Machines during the break of the GFL and was runner-up in Sweden.

The 6′1″ tall and 265 lbs heavy defensive lineman is an all-round athletic talent. At MSG DJK Göppingen/TV Holzheim, "Mücke", as he is called by his colleagues, played handball in the regional league. With nothing happening in the GFL between October and January, he still wanted to keep fit with a team sport, which is the reason he played handball during that time.

Kreß is now the third player of the Surge’s defensive line for the upcoming season.
