Die Stuttgart Surge hat einen neuen Spieler für die Position des Safety verpflichtet: Der Brite Chad-Adri Walrond wird in der kommenden Saison 2024 für die Stuttgarter Defense auf dem Feld stehen.
Der in Bridgetown (Barbados) geborene Walrond wechselt von den Cologne Centurions, bei denen er die vergangenen beiden Spielzeiten 2022 und 2023 absolvierte, nach Stuttgart. In 15 Spielen für die Centurions konnte der britische Safety insgesamt 69 Tackles, davon 7 Tackles for Loss, anbringen. Zudem gelang ihm eine Interception. Aufgrund seiner Schnelligkeit wurde Walrond auch als Returner im Special Team eingesetzt.
Während seines Studiums an der University of Hertfordshire in Großbritannien begann Walrond 2017 mit dem American Football. Drei Jahre lang spielte er für das Team der Universität, die Hertfordshire Hurricanes. 2019 wurde er aufgrund seiner Leistungen in das All Star-Team der BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) gewählt. Schnell wurde die London Blitz auf ihn aufmerksam, sodass er die Saisons 2018 und 2019 zusätzlich für sie in der höchsten britischen Football-Liga, der Premier Division, spielte. 2021 wechselte Walrond zu den Allgäu Comets in die GFL. Bei den Comets machte er in 9 Spielen unter anderem mit 24 Tackles und einem Forced Fumble für die Defensive, einem Receiving Touchdown für die Offensive und einem 53 Yards Kick Return für das Special Team auf sich aufmerksam. Walrond wurde daraufhin ins NFL International Combine 2021 eingeladen. Seine Karriere in der European League of Football begann 2022 bei den Istanbul Rams, für die er die ersten beiden Saisonspiele bestritt, bevor er nach Köln wechselte.
Der 24-Jährige, der auch für die britische Nationalmannschaft spielt, hat in seiner Karriere schon viel gesehen und möchte nun den großen Schritt in Richtung Titelgewinn machen:

Nach einem langen Gespräch mit Coach Newman wurde sehr schnell klar, dass ich hier sein möchte und dass die Liebe erwidert worden ist. Meine Mission ist ganz einfach: ein Meisterschaftsring. Ich werde alles tun, was ich auf und neben dem Spielfeld tun muss, um dieses Ziel mit meiner neuen Familie zu erreichen. Go Surge!" – Chad Walrond
The Stuttgart Surge have signed a new player for the safety position: Chad-Adri Walrond from the United Kingdom will be on the field for the Stuttgart Surge defense in the upcoming 2024 season.
Walrond, who was born in Bridgetown, Barbados, joins the Stuttgart Surge from the Cologne Centurions, where he spent the last two seasons (2022 and 2023). In 15 games for the Centurions, the British safety made a total of 69 tackles, including 7 tackles for loss. He also had one interception. Due to his speed, Walrond was also used as a special teams returner.
Walrond began playing American football in 2017 while studying at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. He played for the university's team, the Hertfordshire Hurricanes, for three years. In 2019, he was selected for the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) All Star team for his performances. He quickly caught the attention of the London Blitz, so he also played for them in the 2018 and 2019 seasons in the Premier Division, Britain's top football league. In 2021, Walrond joined the GFL's Allgäu Comets. In 9 games with the Comets, he made a name for himself with 24 tackles and a forced fumble on defense, a receiving touchdown on offense, and a 53-yard kick return on special teams. Walrond was then invited to the 2021 NFL International Combine. The 24-year-old, who also plays for Great Britain, has seen a lot in his career and is now looking to take the big step towards winning a title:
