Simon Butsch
Simon Butsch ließ nach der Saison 2024 aufhorchen und deutete via Social Media an, seine Karriere an den Nagel zu hängen – doch das Football-Feuer in ihm brennt noch immer! Die Gründe für eine weitere Saison im Surge-Trikot: „Meine Liebe zum Spiel und mein Bestreben, mich Woche für Woche zu verbessern, mit dem ultimativen Ziel, eine Meisterschaft zuhause zu gewinnen.“ Der 32-jährige gebürtige Sindelfinger ist seit 2023 bei der Surge und hat insgesamt 25 Spiele für Stuttgart absolviert.
2005 begann Simon Butsch mit dem American Football bei den Holzgerlingen Twister, für die er bis zu seinem Wechsel zu den Swarco Raiders im Jahr 2015 im Einsatz war. Von 2017 bis 2022 spielte er für die Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. In seiner Karriere konnte Butsch viele wichtige Titel ergattern, so u.a. die österreichische Meisterschaft 2015 und 2016, den German Bowl 2017, 2018 und 2022 sowie den Sieg des CEFL Bowls 2021 und 2022.
Raphael Zistler
193 Zentimeter und 136 Kilogramm geladene Energie für die Defensive Line – Raphael Zistler ist zurück und geht in seine dritte Saison für die Stuttgart Surge. Zistler absolvierte 2023 und 2024 insgesamt 17 Spiele für die Surge. Der in Nagold geborene D-Liner begann seine Karriere 2016 bei den Karlsruher KIT SC Engineers und schloss sich 2019 den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns an und gewann 2021 den CEFL Bowl, 2022 holte er sich den German Bowl und den CEFL Bowl. Mehrmals wurden Talentsucher auf Zistler aufmerksam: 2021 wurde er zum NFL International Combine und 2022 zum CFL International Combine eingeladen.
Alexander Kreß
Für Kontinuität an der Defensive Line steht auch Alexander Kreß. Der 30-jährige Schwäbisch Gmünder wird 2025 seine dritte Surge-Saison absolvieren. 2023 und 2024 stand Kreß in 26 Partien auf dem Platz und kommt auf Werte wie 34 Total Tackles, zwei Sacks und 9,5 Tackles for Loss. Von 2011 bis 2016 spielte Kreß bei den Albershausen Crusaders und von 2017 bis 2022 bei den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, wo er den German Bowl (2017, 2018, 2022) und den CEFL Bowl (2021, 2022) gewinnen konnte.
Sadik Busch
Auch Sadik Busch hat seinen Vertrag bei der Stuttgart Surge um ein Jahr verlängert. Der 22-jährige Busch kam in der vergangenen Saison zur Stuttgart Surge und kam in 10 Spielen auf 23 Total Tackles, zwei Sacks und 5 Tackles for Loss. „Ich bin bereit, alles zu geben, um diesen Traum zu verwirklichen und ein bleibendes Vermächtnis in Stuttgart zu hinterlassen“, sagt Sadik Busch und hat sich hohe Ziele für die kommende Saison gesetzt. Bei den Rodgau Pioneers, bei denen er von 2013 bis 2018 spielte, begann Buschs Footall-Karriere. Fortgesetzt wurde sie 2019 bei den Darmstadt Diamonds. 2020 und 2021 wurde Sadik Busch von den Wiesbaden Phantoms unter Vertrag genommen. Bei den Marburg Mercenaries spielte er 2022 und 2023, bevor er von Jordan Neuman zur Surge geholt wurde.
Maximilian Dommermuth
„Meine Motivation, 2025 für die Stuttgart Surge zu spielen, kommt aus meiner Leidenschaft für dieses Team und seine Vision. Ich glaube, dass wir noch viel vor uns haben und gemeinsam Großes erreichen können. Die Energie der Fans und der Zusammenhalt im Team treiben mich an, mein Bestes zu geben. Ich freue mich darauf, zum Erfolg der Stuttgart Surge beizutragen und mich als Spieler und als Team weiterzuentwickeln.“ Maximilian Dommermuth geht höchstmotiviert in die nächste Spielzeit mit dem Blitz auf dem Helm. Der 26-jährige gebürtige Heidelberger kam 2023 zur Stuttgart Surge und konnte in 18 Spielen ganze 21 Total Tackles, 4,5 Sacks und 6 Tackles for Loss an den Mann bringen. Vor seiner Karriere in der European League of Football war Dommermuth, der 1,89 Meter groß und 135 Kilogramm schwer ist, von 2016 bis 2022 bei den Heidelberg Hunters. 2016 wurde er zum Defensive MVP der Hunters gewählt.
Dominic Siegel
Für frischen Wind in der Defensive Line sorgt Neuzugang Dominic Siegel. Der gebürtige Münchner kommt von den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, für die er 2024 spielte. Zu den Einhörnern kam er von den Munich Ravens, für die er 2023 im Einsatz war. Seine Karriere in der European League of Football startete 2022 bei den Vienna Vikings, mit denen der heute 29-Jährige in seiner Debütsaison direkt die Championship-Trophäe gewann. Zuvor war er von 2017 bis 2021 bei den Munich Cowboys im Einsatz. Lediglich für die Saison 2019 zog es ihn zu den New Yorker Lions nach Braunschweig, mit denen er den German Bowl für sich entscheiden konnte. Siegel möchte bei seinem neuen Team alles geben und weitere Erfolge feiern, indem er sich fokussiert: „In jeder Sitzung, jedem Training und jedem Spiel nach Perfektion streben!“ lautet seine Zielvorgabe für 2025!
Leander Strathmann
Ein bedeutender Neuzugang in der vergangenen Saison war Leander Strathmann, der der Surge treubleibt und auch 2025 auf Quarterback-Jagd geht. Der 25-jährige Hamburger kam letztes Jahr von den Concordia Stingers, für die er von 2021 bis 2023 im Einsatz war. Von 2018 bis 2020 sammelte Strathmann Erfahrungen am New Mexico Military Institute Junior College. 2017 spielte er für die Kents Hill Huskies, wo er als Lineman of the Year ausgezeichnet wurde und den Sportsmanship Award gewinnen konnte. Vor seiner siebenjährigen Football-Karriere auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent wurde Strathmann bei den Hamburg Pioneers (2013-2017) und den Hamburg Blue Devils (2016-2018) ausgebildet. Leander Strathmann freut sich auf die kommende Saison in Stuttgart: „Jeder, der uns in der letzten Saison gesehen hat, weiß: Das Beste kommt noch!“
Berend Grube
Eine prominente Verstärkung aus der European League of Football stößt für die kommende Saison 2025 zur Stuttgart Surge: der 33-jährige Berend Grube spielt ab sofort für die Surge an der Defensive Line. Berend Grube ist seit 2021 mit dabei in der European League of Football und spielte von 2021 bis 2023 für die Hamburg Sea Devils und 2024 für die Tirol Raiders. Insgesamt absolvierte Grube 45 Spiele in der ELF und kam dabei auf in Summe 151 Total Tackles, 20 Sacks und 33,5 Tackles for Loss. Dazu kommen acht Pass Breakups und vier Forced Fumbles. In der ELF-Gründungssaison 2021 wurde er ins All Star-Team berufen. In der ELF Top 100 wurde er 2023 auf Platz 9 geführt.
Vor seinem Engagement in der European war der gebürtige Lübecker 2020 bei den Elmshorn Fighting Pirates und von 2015 bis 2019 bei den Lübeck Cougars unter Vertrag. Davor war Grube erfolgreich in den Vereinigten Staaten unterwegs, wo er von 2010 bis 2013 bei den Thiel College Tomcats und 2009 bei den Peters Township Indians im Einsatz war. Während seiner Zeit in den Staaten wurde er zweimal (2012 und 2013) mit einer Honorable Mention All Pac geehrt. Seine ersten sportlichen Schritte machte Grube von 2007 bis 2009 bei den Lübeck Cougars. Es gibt gute Gründe, weshalb es den erfahrenen Footballspieler nun für die kommende Saison nach Stuttgart zieht: „Letztes Jahr habe ich zum ersten Mal die Intensität der Surge-Fans erlebt, und ich kann es kaum erwarten, ein Teil davon zu sein. Lasst uns laut werden!“
Robert Lachmann
Ebenfalls aus dem Norden und mit US-Erfahrung kommt Neuzugang Robert Lachmann. Der gebürtige Hamburger hat 2015 bei den Hamburg Junior Devils, 2016 bei den Hamburg Black Swans und 2017 bei den Hamburg Huskies gespielt. 2018 folgte der Schritt über den großen Teich: Bei den Albany Great Danes (NCAA Div. I) war Lachmann von 2018 bis 2020 im Einsatz, bei den Clarion Golden Eagles (NCAA Div. II) von 2021 bis 2022. Bei den Eagles wurde Lachmann 2022 als College Division II Defensive Player of the Year ausgezeichnet. Nach seinen Stationen im US-College-System zog es Lachmann zurück nach Hamburg zu den Sea Devils, für die er 2023 auf dem Platz stand. In der vergangenen Saison 2024 stand er für die Tirol Raiders unter Vertrag. In seinen zwei Jahren in der European League of Football brachte es Lachmann auf 17 Spiele, 47 Total Tackles, 11 Sacks und 13,5 Tackles for Loss.
Chris Mulumba
Der ehemalige NCAA Division I-, CFL- und NFL International Pathway Program-Spieler Chris Mulumba verlängert seinen Vertrag und wird weiterhin für die Surge an der Line of Scrimmage stehen! Der 32-jährige Finne kam vergangene Saison zur Stuttgart Surge, nachdem er international schon sehr erfolgreich war und die Football-Welt auf sich aufmerksam gemacht hatte: 2020 wurde die NFL auf ihn aufmerksam und lud ihn ins renommierte International Pathway Program ein. Danach wurde Mulumba 2021 im CFL-Global Draft von den Hamilton Tiger-Cats gedraftet, für die er von 2021 bis 2023 unter Vertrag war. Diese beiden Erfolge wurden ihm durch seine herausstechende College-Karriere ermöglicht: Chris Mulumba spielte von 2017 bis 2018 bei den Colorado Boulder Buffaloes in der Pac-12 der NCAA Div. I FBS und somit auf dem höchstmöglichen US-College-Niveau.
Nicht umsonst wurde er 2017 und 2018 aufgrund seiner Leistungen zum Finnish Football Player of the Year ernannt und kam auf die Ted Hendricks Award Watchlist 2018. Hinzu kommt die Verleihung des Ron Scott Awards 2018 an Mulumba und die Einberufung in das All-Pac-12 Third Team 2018. Auch in vorherigen Jahren war Mulumba bereits in den USA aktiv: 2014 stand er für die Chabot College Gladiators auf dem Feld und von 2015 bis 2016 für das Diablo Valley College. Ausgebildet für den Sport wurde er von 2009 bis 2012 bei den Helsinki Roosters, mit denen er 2012 den Maple Bowl gewann.

Simon Butsch
Simon Butsch made people sit up and take notice after the 2024 season and hinted via social media that he was hanging up his boots - but the football fire in him is still burning! Reasons for another season in a Surge jersey: "My love for the game and my desire to get better week in and week out, with the ultimate goal of winning a championship at home." The 32-year-old native of Sindelfingen, Germany, has been with the Surge since 2023 and has played a total of 25 games for Stuttgart.
Simon Butsch started playing American football in 2005 with the Holzgerlingen Twister, where he played until he went to the Swarco Raiders in 2015. From 2017 to 2022 he played for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. Butsch has won many major titles in his career, including the Austrian Championship in 2015 and 2016, the German Bowl in 2017, 2018, and 2022, and the CEFL Bowl in 2021 and 2022.
Raphael Zistler
193 centimeters and 136 kilograms of charged energy for the defensive line - Raphael Zistler is back for his third season with the Stuttgart Surge. Zistler played a total of 17 games for the Surge in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Alexander Kress
Alexander Kress also stands for continuity on the defensive line. The 30-year-old from Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, will complete his third season with the Surge in 2025. In 2023 and 2024, Kress appeared in 26 games and recorded 34 total tackles, two sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. From 2011 to 2016, Kress played for the Albershausen Crusaders and from 2017 to 2022 for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, where he won the German Bowl (2017, 2018, 2022) and the CEFL Bowl (2021, 2022).
Sadik Busch
Sadik Busch has also signed a one-year contract extension with the Stuttgart Surge. Busch, 22, joined the Stuttgart Surge last season and recorded 23 total tackles, two sacks and five tackles for loss in 10 games. "I am ready to give everything I have to make this dream come true and leave a lasting legacy in Stuttgart", said Sadik Busch, who has set his sights high for the upcoming season. Busch's football career began with the Rodgau Pioneers, where he played from 2013 to 2018. It continued with Darmstadt Diamonds in 2019. Sadik Busch was signed by the Wiesbaden Phantoms for 2020 and 2021. He played for the Marburg Mercenaries in 2022 and 2023 before being brought to the Surge by Jordan Neuman.
Maximilian Dommermuth
"My motivation to play for the Stuttgart Surge in 2025 comes from my passion for this team and its vision. I believe that we still have a long way to go and that we can achieve great things together. The energy of the fans and the team spirit drive me to give my best. I'm looking forward to contributing to the success of the Stuttgart Surge and growing as a player and as a team.” Maximilian Dommermuth is highly motivated for the upcoming season with the lightning bolt on his helmet. The 26-year-old Heidelberg native joined the Stuttgart Surge in 2023 and made 21 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss in 18 games. Prior to his career in the European League of Football, Dommermuth, who stands 1.89 meters tall and weighs 135 kilograms, was with the Heidelberg Hunters from 2016 to 2022. He was named the Hunters' Defensive MVP in 2016.
Dominic Siegel
New signing Dominic Siegel brings a breath of fresh air to the defensive line. He was born in Munich and comes from the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, for whom he played in 2024. He joined the Unicorns from the Munich Ravens, for whom he played in 2023. His career in the European League of Football began in 2022 with Vienna Vikings, with whom the now 29-year-old won the championship trophy in his debut season. Prior to that, he played for the Munich Cowboys from 2017 to 2021. For the 2019 season, he will join the New Yorker Lions in Braunschweig, with whom he won the German Bowl. Siegel plans to give his all with his new team and celebrate more success by staying focused: "Strive for perfection in every session, every practice and every game!" is his goal for 2025!
Leander Strathmann
Leander Strathmann, who will remain with the Surge in 2025, was an important addition to the Surge last season. The 25-year-old from Hamburg, Germany, joined the Surge last year from the Concordia Stingers, where he played from 2021 to 2023. From 2018 to 2020, Strathmann gained experience at New Mexico Military Institute Junior College. Berend Grube
A prominent reinforcement from the European League of Football is joining the Stuttgart Surge for the upcoming 2025 season: 33-year-old Berend Grube will play on the defensive line for the Surge from now on. Berend Grube has been a member of the European League of Football since 2021 and played for the Hamburg Sea Devils from 2021 to 2023 and for the Tirol Raiders in 2024. Grube played a total of 45 games in the ELF, recording 151 total tackles, 20 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss. He also had eight pass breakups and four forced fumbles. He was named to the All Star Team in the inaugural 2021 ELF season. He was ranked #9 in the 2023 ELF Top 100.
Prior to joining the European, the Lübeck native was signed by the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates in 2020 and the Lübeck Cougars from 2015 to 2019. Previously, Grube enjoyed success in the United States, where he played for the Thiel College Tomcats from 2010 to 2013 and the Peters Township Indians in 2009. During his time in the States, he earned Honorable Mention All Pac honors twice (2012 and 2013). Grube got his start in the sport with the Lübeck Cougars from 2007 to 2009. There are good reasons why the experienced Football player is drawn to Stuttgart for the upcoming season: "Last year was the first time I experienced the intensity of the Surge fans and I can't wait to be a part of it. Let's get loud!"
Robert Lachmann
Also from the north of Germany and with experience in the US is new signing Robert Lachmann. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he played for the Hamburg Junior Devils in 2015, the Hamburg Black Swans in 2016 and the Hamburg Huskies in 2017. He made the move across the pond in 2018: Lachmann played for the Albany Great Danes (NCAA Div. I) from 2018 to 2020 and the Clarion Golden Eagles (NCAA Div. II) from 2021 to 2022. Lachmann was named the 2022 College Division II Defensive Player of the Year for the Eagles. After his stints in the US college system, Lachmann returned to Hamburg to join the Sea Devils, for whom he played in 2023. He spent the 2024 season with the Tirol Raiders. In his two years in the European League of Football, Lachmann played in 17 games, recording 47 total tackles, 11 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.
Chris Mulumba
Former NCAA Division I, CFL and NFL International Pathway Program player Chris Mulumba extends his contract and will continue to play for the Surge! The 32-year-old Finn came to the Stuttgart Surge last season after a successful international career that caught the attention of the football world: In 2020, the NFL took notice of him and invited him to the prestigious International Pathway Program. Mulumba was then selected in the 2021 CFL Global Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with whom he signed a contract from 2021 to 2023. These two achievements were made possible by his outstanding collegiate career: From 2017 to 2018, Chris Mulumba played for the Colorado Boulder Buffaloes in the Pac-12 of the NCAA Div. I FBS and thus at the highest possible US college level.
It is no coincidence that he was named Finnish Football Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018 for his performances and was named to the 2018 Ted Hendricks Award Watch List. Mulumba also received the 2018 Ron Scott Award and was named to the 2018 All-Pac-12 Third Team. Mulumba has also played in the USA in previous years, playing for the Chabot College Gladiators in 2014 and for Diablo Valley College from 2015 to 2016. From 2009 to 2012 he trained with the Helsinki Roosters, with whom he won the Maple Bowl in 2012.
